Alexei looked in astonishment at me while I was telling everyone about my encounter with Rosetta. I didn't tell anyone that Rosetta had never recovered after suffering a stroke at the airport. I felt guilty for not sharing this information with Alexei. I got depressed after Alexandre confronted me. I tried to figure out how to make it up to Alexei after everyone had left the room. I jumped out of bed when I heard Jacques yell, "Papa! Daddy!" Alexei was already on his way to check on Jacques, but I also wanted to see why our child was in distress. I noticed the woman who was standing by the stairs the moment I walked out of my room. She seemed unfriendly. I frowned when I saw her glaring at Alexei. Jacques started crying when he felt the woman's resentment. The woman gasped when she noticed me. She ran up the stairs at full speed to talk to me. I lost my mind when I saw her push Alexei against the handrail. I could see that Alexei was hurt. I glared at the woman when I heard Alexei say, "Stay where you are, Zachariel. I'm fine. The kids are hungry and sleepy. I'll take them home before they all start crying. I'll see you soon. Bye."
The woman tried to hug me, but I evaded her. I scowled at the woman, then said, "Move aside." The woman quickly moved out of my way when she felt my menacing aura. Alexei was trying to calm Jacques down, but the little boy kept crying. I wanted to talk to Alexei before he left. I ran down the stairs when I saw Alexei grab his phone. I groaned when I accidentally stumbled on the last step. Alexei caught me with one arm before I fell. Alexei scowled, then asked me, "What are you doing, Zachariel? Isn't having a fever enough for you? Do you want a cast on your arm or leg too?" Jacques giggled when he saw how angry his father was.
I pinched Jacques's cheek, then said to Alexei, "I knew that you wouldn't let anything happen to me, Alexei. And how could I let you leave angry, huh?" Alexei sighed, then responded to me with, "I'm not mad at you, Zachariel. I know why you didn't tell me about Rosetta Malachi. It's not your fault that she died from a heart attack. So stop blaming yourself." I put my head on Alexei's shoulder, then asked him, "How long have you known about this, Alexei?" Alexei placed a kiss on my neck, then said, "Something clicked in my mind when I heard Rosetta's name. I remembered that her family sued the airport for negligence after her death. Those vultures, fortunately, lost the case." I sighed then uttered, "I forgot to wear a mask. You guys will have to get a flu shot now." Alexei chuckled, then stated, "I already made an appointment with the kid's pediatrician and my doctor, Zachariel. They will stop by at the mansion tonight to examine Bertha, Ocean, the kids, and me." I stroked Jacques's head, then asked him, "Is anyone watching us, little chick?" Jacques looked behind us, then answered me with, "No, Papa. Everyone is gone." I sighed in relief, then stated, "Thank God. I thought that I was going to lose my mind just now."
I grabbed Alexei's hand, then said, "Let's sit down, Alexei." I took a seat on the stairs, then motioned Alexei to sit next to me. Jacques climbed on my lap, then said, "I'm hungry, Papa." I placed a kiss on Jacques's head, then uttered, "I know, little chick. I'm sure that your grandma Amelia has prepared food for all of us." Jacques squealed, then responded to me with, "Grandma's dishes are delicious, Papa." Alexei sighed while looking behind him, then said, "We are in people's way, Zachariel. Let's move to somewhere else." I ran my fingers through Alexei's hair, then responded to him with, "My grandmother and the others have lots of things to talk about, Alexei. They won't be coming downstairs anytime soon." Alexei placed a kiss on my cheek, then stated, "I had a feeling that you knew who she was, Zachariel. She must be disappointed that you didn't let her hold you." I frowned at Alexei, then uttered, "I would have embraced her exuberantly if she hadn't bullied Jacques and you, Alexei."
I tickled Jacques, then said, "How dare she make my little chick cry." Jacques giggled, then yelled, "Papa, stop!" Dominique and Genevieve ran into the house when they heard my voice. They screamed, "Papa!" in unison while jumping up and down. Alexei helped Dominique sit between us, then pulled Genevieve onto his lap. The kids started telling me about how much fun they had with Vittoria. Amelia gasped when she saw us sitting on the stairs. She uttered, "What a beautiful scene," then added while running in the direction of the living room, "Don't move, guys. I want to take a picture to commemorate this moment." Amelia yelled, "Say cheese!" while taking pictures of us with her phone. She handed her phone to Ocean, then said, "Take a good picture of all of us together, Ocean." Ocean grabbed the phone, then said, "The picture will come out great if you sit on the last step, Mrs. Marquis." We got startled when Alexandre yelled, "Wait for me, Ocean! I want to be in the picture too." We all gasped when Alexandre climbed off the stairs to be with us. Alexei scowled at his father, then said, "When are you going to realize that you are not a teenager anymore, dad?" Alexandre grinned at Alexei, then responded to him with, "I have done far more dangerous things to catch Maverick, Alexei. That dog loves to follow his nose whenever he's outside."
