I ate in peace after James left to contact the jeweler. I had just gotten out of a meeting when James called me to say that Madeline Addison had arrived. I asked James to escort Madeline to my office. I reviewed Madeline's information while waiting for her. Madeline had attended UCLA. She had graduated with flying colors. Triton had investigated her, and he didn't find anything incriminating about her. Madeline had homeschooled children of stars and prominent people before. She knew how hectic things could get and how fundamental our privacy rights were. I was pleased with Madeline's performance. I put Madeline's file away when she walked into my office with James. I was surprised by how graceful Madeline was.
Madeline smiled, then greeted me with, "Good afternoon, Mr. Marquis. I'm Madeline Addison. I hope to work for you soon." I motioned Madeline to take a seat, then said, "I'm pleased with your resume, Ms. Addison. My children will be three years old next week. I would like you to start teaching them then. I was hoping to find someone older than you, but you will do for now. James will ask one of my drivers to take you to my house now. My housekeeper Charlotte will go through the details of your contract with you when you get there."
Madeline bowed her head, then responded to me with, "Thank you for hiring me, sir. I won't disappoint you." My phone rang the moment James walked out of the office with Madeline. I picked up my phone, then uttered, "Where is he, Triton?" Triton chuckled, then replied to me with, "Oliver is at the Gemini motel with my men, sir. He was trying to flee the country. My men caught him at the airport and brought him there. I'll be waiting for you at the motel, sir." I replied to Triton with, "I'll see you soon, Triton," then called Cash. Cash handed me a file the moment I stepped into the car. He started the car, then said, "Here is some background information on Oliver Nolan, Alexei. It seems like you are not the only person who Oliver has pissed off."
I chuckled while going through the documents. I had found just what I needed. Cash parked the car in a secluded area when we reached the motel. He waited for my bodyguards, then led me to the room where Triton and his men were. Oliver gasped when I walked through the door. He tried to flee, but his hands and feet were bound. He looked in fear at Triton, then asked him, "What is Mr. Marquis doing here? I have never done anything to harm his company." I sat on the one-seat sofa, then gazed at Oliver. Oliver was in a bad state. Triton and his men had made him kneel on the floor. Oliver's lips were bleeding, and he had a swollen eye. I could see that his right arm was injured. Triton coughed to draw my attention, then said, "Oliver wouldn't stop smart-mouthing everyone, sir. My men taught him a lesson when he started cursing everyone's mother. Oliver knows why he's here but still denies any wrongdoing." I shook my head, then asked Oliver, "Who hired you to spy on Zachariel Joseph, Oliver?"
Oliver was quick to answer my question. He gasped dramatically, then yelled, "No one, sir. I fell in love with Zachariel at first sight. I was willing to do anything to make him fall in love with me. Since when is showing someone affection a crime?" I lost my temper and punched Oliver. Oliver lost his balance and fell on the floor. Cash handed me his handkerchief when he saw that my hand got dirty. I wiped my hand clean, then said to Oliver, "Don't test my patience, Oliver. Tell me who hired you if you want to live." Oliver spat out a few of his teeth, then uttered, "Screw it. I'm too young to die for something stupid." I glared at Oliver, then said, "You better not lie to me, Oliver."
Oliver huffed, then declared, "I wouldn't dare to, sir. Andrew Waltz is the one who hired me. He heard from his friend Zavier that Zachariel Joseph had joined the Marquis empire. Andrew ordered me to make Zachariel's life a living hell. The only way to achieve my goal would be by joining the Marquis empire. Andrew told me that Zachariel was a threat to him. He asked me to get rid of Zachariel before he returned to the business world. I realized what I had gotten myself into when I didn't meet Zachariel for a month. I would have had a better chance of finding a needle in a haystack than seeing Zachariel. The guy never left his desk. He was always in a hurry whenever I saw him. I couldn't just go to his floor to bother him either. I decided to change my plans when I heard Zachariel say that he was single. I confessed my love to Zachariel in an anonymous letter. I laughed at my misfortune when Zachariel politely rejected me. I decided to abort the mission when I saw that Zachariel was acquainted with the Malachi's. I already had beef with that family and didn't want to cross their path again. That bastard Andrew Waltz refused to pay me when he heard that Zachariel was still alive and well."
