Chapter 15 - Muffins

Start from the beginning

Letting myself in, Thor laid on his sofa with the TV blaring. Unfortuntely I didn't have my magic so I couldn't scare him awake. Instead I gave him a hard kick in the thigh.

"What in the name of Odin's beard!" The oaf got up immediantly, his back facing me.

"Y/n has come to gather us from our slumber." I told him annoyingly.

"Ah! Brother, good morning." Thor faced me proudly. I rolled my eyes and exited his man cave fast.

Thor's loud feet stumbled behind me. Y/n gave us a pure smile as we turned the corner.

She ushered us inside the Midgardian invention quickly and pressed the common room button.

Y/n stepped out when the elevator doors dinged. The fresh smell of dough filled the room.

The 'Avengers' who I accidently assembled laid dead-looking on the seating arrangements.

Y/n ran to the kitchenette, slipping on fabricated gloves. Taking out puffy baked bread from an oven. She placed the tray onto a placemat.

Turning my gaze away from Y/n I looked around the room. By now, Thor was talking to Stark about something.

Steve sat on a stool reading a paper. Dr. Banner sat talking to Romanoff. Everybody else was curled up on the floor for whatever reason.

"The muffins are ready!" Y/n announced with a smile. Her pancakes had been very exceptional. I was rather, dare I say... excited to taste these new items.

The quiet chatter burst into full conversation as everybody made their way to get a muffin.

Y/n took out another pan from the oven whilst everybody else went at the other plate like wild pigs.

She set it aside, and placed the muffins onto a different plate. Next came those fruity pastries Thor liked.

She popped them inside a box and pulled a small lever, making the inside of the box red.

Y/n caught me watching. I turned around quickly to avoid the situation. "Loki." My name rolled off her tongue beautifully.

"Here." She pushed the seperate plate of muffins onto the counter in front of me.

I gave her a puzzling look. "I made you your own muffins so you didn't have to share with them." She whispered, nodding her head towards the team.

Well... that was unusually nice. "Thank you." I mumbled and snatched the plate from the counter.

"Now hold on just a minute.." Stark saw the exchange. "Oh here we go." Y/n rolled her eyes.

"Why does Reindeer Games get his own muffins?" He complained. Before I could reply with a snarky remark, Y/n answered before me.

"You guys are crazy. Why would Loki want to share with you?"

Stark pulled a sarcastic gesture. "We are not crazy!" He defended.

"Do you have more?" Barnes asked, mouth full of food. Crumbs fell out of his lips. Y/n inclinded her head, using him as an example.

"That doesn't count." Stark murmered.

I quietly ate my muffins as the two argued back and forth.

The dispute ended with Y/n making another batch for everybody else.

Y/n appeared in front of me. So far, her teleporting was alright. For somebody who hadn't used her powers in a long time, she sure was doing great.

However, I still could not get into her head. No matter how hard I tried her thoughts blocked me out.

Y/n travelled around the room, teleporting from one corner to another.

"Now teleport to the stairs, from the far wall." I told her, stepping aside.

She ran to the end wall and shut her eyes. Moments later she appeared at the stairs.

Her body wasn't quite used to the movement so, everytime she teleported her legs would topple over.

"How am I doing?" Y/n smiled, taking a large gulp of water from her watering container.

"Alright." I replied dryly. She only shrugged and stretched out her legs.

After a short break, we got back to work.

"Dinner is served!" Y/n's voice rang out. Steve paused the moving picture they had been watching. I put my book down.

"Mmm smells great Y/n!" Romanoff complimented. She wasn't lying, the meal smelled pleasant. Y/n giggled and thanked her.

Once again, the Avengers went at her meal like a starving pack of wolves.

When it came to Thor, he was a bottomless pit. Having consumed 3/4 of food at any dinner on Asgard, he was known to be quite reckless when it came to his appetite.

Y/n spooned some corn onto her dish. She didn't look too amused at the insults being thrown around.

Y/n furrowed her eyebrows and looked at her plate.

Something was wrong. I couldn't tell if it was something terrible or not.

She looked over towards the window, the sun setting before us.

"Guys.." Y/n whimpered. Nobody heard her. Her small voice was lost amongst their obnoxious jokes and abnormally loud chewing.

"Uh.." She frowned, facing her plate again. If only I could read her, then I could know what was happening.

My stomach turned, thinking over all the possibilties of what just happened. At the same time I listened in on everybody's mind, scanning everything they said.

Alas, they are only fools and think of only gross and immature things. I placed my fork down, focusing on Y/n.

She shifted uncomfortablly in her seat. She knew something was up. The more time passed the more anxious I got.

The bafoons paid no mind however and continued on with their lame chats about previous "missions" and their best wins. One of those wins being against me. Which, I was still nervous about.

Y/n tried reaching out a few more times, being ignored all the same. I felt bad. I pushed that feeling deep down though, I was not to have pity on somebody such as herself.

A few times, she would turn back to the window without anybody noticing. It seemed as if she was counting down to something. Was she planning to escape again?

"Right! Who's ready for dessert?" Stark stood up.

The windows shattered as an explosion went off in front of us.
