Chapter 47. Nathaniel Cambell Part 1

I grabbed a sweater for Zachariel when I heard him yell, "It's so cold!" while washing his face. I helped Zachariel wear his vest, then said, "I want you to know that this is not your fault, Zachariel. I was a fool for getting angry at you earlier. I was just surprised that you knew more about the matter than me." Zachariel cupped my face, then kissed me intensely. He put his forehead against mine, then stated, "I realized while looking at the kids that what Gabrielle did had nothing to do with me, Alexei. So don't worry about it. I should learn how not to let things affect me." I kissed Zachariel passionately back, then responded to him with, "You have made a lot of progress, Zachariel. I'm sure that you will get over this hurdle too." Zachariel grabbed his laptop, then stated while walking out of the room, "Let's get this bastard, Alexei."

Triton looked in surprise at Zachariel when he took a seat at my desk. Triton restrained himself, then greeted Zachariel with, "Good evening, Mr. Joseph. It's nice to meet you." Zachariel turned on his laptop, then replied to Triton with, "Likewise, sir. Thank you for always protecting me." Triton looked in shock at Zachariel, then asked him, "You knew that my men were following you, Mr. Joseph?" Zachariel nodded, then stated, "Yes, sir. I tend to scan my surroundings wherever I go. I managed to spot your men here and there. I gave them the slip most of the time. It was quite fun, so thank you. Can you tell me what method your men used to track the family down, sir?" Zachariel listened carefully to Triton's report.

I was just about to take a seat next to Zachariel when Charlotte walked into my office with a tray full of snacks and coffee. I grabbed the tray, then said to Charlotte, "It's late, Charlotte. Go to bed. We'll handle everything by ourselves from here on." Charlotte smiled, then uttered before leaving the room, "See you in the morning, sir." Zachariel made some arrangements with Triton then turned off my computer. Zachariel chuckled, then uttered while checking his email, "Wow, Triton works fast." Triton had sent Eric Cambell's and his wife's social security number to Zachariel. He had included photos of the family and credit and debit card numbers. Zachariel frowned while going through the data. He laughed, then uttered, "I bet that I can find Nathaniel Cambell in two hours, Alexei. It seems like Gabrielle put a lot of thought into naming her little angel."

I frowned, then asked Zachariel, "Did Triton's men overlook something, Zachariel?" Zachariel took a bite out of a cookie, then responded to me with, "Yes, Alexei. Eric has two children of his own. Liam is sixteen, and Layla is thirteen years old. Eric seems to be a responsible father. He probably helped his kids get a debit card. Triton's men should have traced the kid's debit card activity first." Zachariel started typing away on his laptop before I could reply to him. He was soon in a world of his own. I decided to finish the work that I had brought home with me while Zachariel was busy. We were both tired. I was sure that we would spend the whole day in bed with the kids later.

I looked at my watch when it started raining. It was already two AM, and Zachariel was still looking for Eric Cambell and his family. I got startled when I heard Zachariel whistle. Zachariel was looking at a picture of a beautiful house in Denver. I threw my arm around Zachariel's shoulder, then asked him, "Who's house is this, Zachariel?" Zachariel grinned, then replied to me with, "It's Eric Cambell's house, Alexei. He bought it for a whopping one million dollars." I frowned, then asked Zachariel, "Where did he get the money from, Zachariel? I doubt that he could afford a house like that with his landscaper salary." Zachariel smiled, then answered me with, "Eric invested the money that he got from Gabrielle every month, Alexei. He made a huge profit last year. Eric didn't tell Gabrielle about it and kept accepting the six thousand dollars. He probably moved because he didn't want Gabrielle to find out the truth. Gabrielle has made her uncle a millionaire without realizing it. I wouldn't want to lose the child if he was my lucky charm either."

I placed a kiss on Zachariel's forehead, then said to him, "You're marvelous, Zachariel. You found them in exactly two hours." Zachariel smirked, then stated, "I almost failed to find them, Alexei. Eric has trained his family well. His son, fortunately, slipped up. He bought a game with his debit card in a mall in Denver. He probably didn't have enough cash on him and was afraid that he would miss out on the deal. I managed to follow his activities from there." I smiled, then asked Zachariel, "Did you sent Triton the address, Zachariel?" Zachariel nodded while rubbing his shoulder. He then uttered, "I requested Triton not to tell anyone that I was the one who found the Cambell family, Alexei. I don't need credit for breaking up a happy home." I sighed, then replied to Zachariel with, "I understand, Zachariel. Briac should think carefully before taking the child out of his comfort zone."
