Kiss me and I'm yours - A Severus Snape story

Two months flew by. Everyone survived the first task, including Harry. I was very worried for a second. He managed to take on a very dangerous dragon, but at the same time I was proud and happy for him. The second task would take place in April and the last in June, just before everybody is leaving for the holidays. I saw Severus occasionally. I believe that he avoids me but maybe he's just busy, I mean mid terms are right after the holidays and there is still a lot of preparation that needs to be done. Today we had a staff meeting right after all the classes were finished. After everybody got here Dumbledore was of course the last one to enter. I saw Severus and gave him a quick smile and to my own surprise he smiled back. "As you know the holidays are around the corner. Most of the students are staying here at the castle over the holidays due to the Yule Ball. Now, since not everybody is trained in the arts of traditional dance, two staff members will show the students how it will be done. Only the fourth years and upwards are allowed to attend the dance. Obviously, the heads of the houses will teach their students to dance. I advise you to break them up in two groups, but I trust your teaching style, so it is up to you. However, I assigned each of you a staff member. Also, each house gets an assigned a room where they will be taught. You have this week and half of the next week to teach your students. The Ball will take place on the 24th, so Christmas Eve to be exact. That is all", with that Dumbledore left, but before he did, he placed a parchment on the table for us to see who an assigned partner will be. I kinda hoped that I get to teach a few students, since I enjoy dancing but at the same time, I hoped that Dumbledore didn't pick me.

I let the other teachers go first. I wasn't really intrigued by the list. I knew that Minerva, Severus, Filius and Pomona had to teach them, since they are head of their own house. I was way too tall for Filius, so the only partner could be Severus. Please no. Not that I don't want to dance with him, but things are rather complicated and to be honest I have no idea how to act around him. I saw Minerva coming back from the table. She looked rather happy. "So, who is your mysterious partner?", I asked her curiously. She smiled and answered happily. "Silvanus Kettleburn", she said. I raised an eyebrow. Well, I mean sure why not, if she is happy than that is fine with me. "You didn't see if I was assigned to anyone did you?". Her emotions changed quickly. Her eyes filled with sadness. "Yes...ehm well you're assigned to Severus", she stated rather sad. I mean of course it's not bad, but just as I explained, I don't really know how to act and now I have to spend every day with him this week. I quickly abandoned my thoughts. I liked Severus and I knew that he wasn't like by lots of people. Hated is the more appropriate term, I guess. His colleagues respect him, but his students rather despise him. "I don't know if you noticed Minerva but I guess Severus and I became sort of friends if you can call it that. I enjoy his company and I don't mind at all that Dumbledore assigned me as his partner", I stated in a greatly confident way. She nodded then left the staff room. As she left, I looked at Severus and I saw him smile. I guess he must have heard me. I'm glad he did. I think he needs to know that somebody in this school actually likes him. I continued to talk with some other professors, when I noticed that someone was staring at me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that it was Severus. I excused myself and walked up to him. "So, I guess I am your assigned partner", I said. He nodded and didn't say anything. "Well, when do we start? My last class ends at four today and after that I'm free. What about you?", I asked him. "My last class ends at 5", he stated. "Alright so I guess seven would be a good time. Gives the students some time after your class and enough time to eat their dinner", I suggested. We made up our minds and talked about a plan. Today we had no choice but to teach all of them since we're starting rather at a late time. We also scheduled times for the whole week. Severus decided to go to the Slytherin common room and let them know.

I guess today will be rather interesting. The whole day went smooth. I had the first, fourth and sixth years to teach and I didn't even have to deduct any points today. Some of them seemed excited for their dance lessons, others rather nervous. I spotted Harry Potter in my class, and he looked rather nervous. I guess he was one of the students to not be excited about their lessons. After dinner, it was time for our lessons. We met up in a room that was big enough for all the Slytherin students to fit in. After we let everybody in, I was standing by the door. Severus was now standing in the middle and the students sat down.
