"Too formal."
"Too casual."
"Too frilly."
"Too- ack, tight!"
"No." Momo said, throwing the clothes in her hand away. Too many options. There were some perks about being Mina's friend, especially her fashion sense. But this was the horrible side about this. "Why is it so hard to find the right outfit?"
Mina leaned her head back and let out a sigh. Momo was supposed to leave in about 30 minutes. They still hadn't put on her make up or at least brushed her hair. Mina scratched at her skin with irritation.
Most of the outfits she chose were immediately put down because they were too something.
"You know what? The problem is, you have too many plain colors. You need patterns once in a while!" Mina said, standing up. She rushed out the room and leaving the door open, rushing over to her own room, grabbing a few items from her room that would fit the female.
Momo waited in her room, lost in her thoughts.
Was this really as big of a deal as Mina had said?
Is meeting the mother a huge part of a relationship?
Wait, his meeting his father a huge part of a relationship?
But we don't even know the status of our relationship.
Wait.
Are we in a relationship?
Are we boyfriend and girlfriend?
Oh god!
Momo slumped down onto her large bed and put both of her hands on her face. "Why is this so hard!" She shouted. She was dressed in a stupid, stupid, blue dress with frills at the end. The frills annoyed her to the depths of it.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Mina said, coming in with about five shirts with patterns on it. There was also a plaid jacket and two patterned tank-tops in her hand. "Alrighty, I'll pair up some outfits and let you try them on."
Momo sat up and looked at her. "Am Todoroki and I a thing?" She asked with concern. "I mean I don't know what we are, I mean are we boyfriend and girlfriend?"
Mina smiled and set down the outfits on her bed. "I don't know, Yao-momo. You're going to have to find that out for yourself." She said, taking the plaid jacket with the colors, tan, brown, black and white mixed together. It would suit her plain colors perfectly. "I mean, I don't know your relationship."
"I know. I just want someone to tell me." Momo said, grabbing the jacket off from her. She folded it on her lap and looked down at her hands, clenching and unclenching her fist. "I don't really understand anything."
She was honestly really nervous about going to his mother's visit.
It was her birthday, and she didn't want to ruin it for her.
Mina walked over to her closet and grabbed a white t-shirt and a black skirt for Momo. "Go big or go home. Just ask him about it. You guys kissed right? Well you have to sort it out at some time." She said, walking over with the clothes folded over her arm and smiling. Mina sat down making a slight dip in the bed next to Momo. "You can't just sit here."
Momo grabbed the clothes with her hand and put them on her lap. "I know that. I'm just a bit nervous. I'm meeting his mother. She's in a psychiatric hospital. What if I say something wrong? What if I upset his mother?" She asked, tilting her head to her friend and looking at her.
"You won't. You always know what to say the right thing. Trust me." Mina said, putting a hand on her shoulder. "You'll do good. Don't worry about it."
Momo stood up and smiled. She was going to be okay.
"Okay. I'll go and change."
-
"This is okay." Momo said, shrugging her shoulders and adjusting the jacket. The jacket was large on her shoulders but was... warm and soothing. The black skirt was about 2 inches above her knees and the jacket went just past the skirt.
Mina smiled. "Okay, well don't forget this, Yao-momo." She said, reaching behind her and grabbing the bag on the chair, wrapped in black and blue patterned wrapping paper with a blue bow on the top, finishing the nice wrapping. "She's going to love it."
Momo grabbed the box from her and held it in her hands. "Yeah. I think she'll really like it. I just hope I don't do anything wrong." She said, the box fitting perfectly in her hands and fitting the present in her hands. "I'm-"
Her friends knew that she had low self-esteem.
It wasn't hard to see when she was alway comparing herself to people that were better than her and had more experience as her. It wasn't really healthy and her self-esteem just got lower and lower and people couldn't seem to boost her self-esteem up.
But they did what they could.
Mina put her hands on her shoulders and shook her. "You're- going- to- do- fine!" She said while shaking her between words. "Yao-momo. You're going to be fine. Maybe seeing your gift and seeing her joyful face when she sees your present will boost you up."
Momo looked down at the present in her hands and sighed.
That woman had lived in the hero shadow for a while and lived with money.
She hoped that it lived up to her expectations.
