The thought ran through your head a couple hundred times.
Vivienne was the closest to you, since you came here. She wouldn't be involved. She can't be. You layed back on the bed looking up at the spruce ceiling.
Maybe Techno is right, the king would want to end you if you risked your life, getting one letter. You felt so out of place for the rest of the day before it was time to sleep. The sun fell under the horizon, the room was now dark, only the lantern in the corner illuminated the room. You fell on the bed, slipping under the silky covers. But the sleepiness didn't come over you. You rolled around a couple times before getting out and walking on the balcony that was right outside the room. The stars were bright, the moon made a perfect shadow over your face.
The air was thick, and clean for the most part, only the faint smell of a campfire mashed up with the smell of fresh snow and water. Over the mountains were the smaller villages like Willowdale and Oakstone, or the abandoned village of Snowchester, its population only being three or four. Laencaster was almost impossible to see from here, that is the most known village ever to live, it was the first to have a criminal as the captains assistant after all. You didn't know much of Laencaster nor any other village expect Willowdale, but only because thats where your family lived.
You heard your door creek open slowly and close. You turned to see Vivienne coming in. You walked back into the room, she was in a night dress her dark hair was messed up and she looked tired.
"Y/N, you need to leave, now." She said in a serious tone.
"What?"
"Ardghal is wanting to kill you, I have no idea why, but i overheard him talking to an assasin." Vivi said, she grabbed your hand and walked over to the dresser and started unpacking it. You started to get everything out of the drawers and put them into your bag.So Techno was right, he does want to kill you. But at least Vivi is not involved. You stuffed more clothes into the bag and got something to wear.
You put on those clothes too and dropped the book into your bag too. Vivienne made the bed nicely and opened the door for you.
"Where do I go?" You asked
"Far, not in the Capitol. There's a Specialist waiting for you outside, he'll take you anywhere." Vivi said. She walked you in the secret hallways that only the staff uses. It was dark in those hallways, they were thin and low. Your bag was brushing against the wall, and you had to put your head lower so that you didn't hit it.You walked for a minute before you reached a door that led outside, Vivi opened the door, and sure enough there was the boy you met couple days ago when coming here.
"Specialist Connor Flores, at your services again." He said nodding his head.
"Hi Connor." You said. You turned back to Vivienne, she smiled at you and patted your shoulder.
"Techno knows everything. Don't worry dear he will find you soon." Vivi said.
"Take care Vivienne."
"You too Y/N." She said. Connor took your hand and helped you up on the horse and nudged it to get going.Silence was not painful while you were coming out of Palace city. It became horrible when the ride slowed down and you were walking in Capitol, slaloming between the walking people. Some familiar faces popped up here and there from your messenger job, not like they remembered you. For a split second you spotted Jac. He looked back at you, then you blinked and you weren't able to see him anymore.
Jac was the person you knew in this city. But he still betrayed you. How could he be in the Nether only to find you?
"Hey Connor?"
"Mhm?"
"Can civilians go to the Nether?"Connor looked back at you behind his shoulder then smiled and turned back. "No. Only Raiders and Technoblade." He said.
"But why was Jac there?" You asked.
"Who?"
"Jac, dark hair, blueish eyes, has scars, greyish skin..." Then it finally hit you, Jac wasn't human. It would make more sense. The late night 'iron hoarding' and how he can have a Pillagers axe."You might be describing a Pillager." Connor said. "Those things are evil really." He added.
"Well he is not quite evil, he made me a pocket knife for my birthday."
"You never knew his true intentions." Connor said, then turning a corner on the road. You knew Jac since you were little. He was in Willowdale for a long time, also he told you about the travels he had to Oakstone. But he was always friendly, always tried to be gentle, sometimes it didn't work out, and you ended up crying on the floor. He was truly a friend, but, this changes a lot of things, he is a Pillager, a raider, and from the knowledge of the other villages, a Pillager troop.
You feared those things since you were a child, but it turns out one was there for all your life.
You finally reached the wall of Capitol. Bunch people already standing there to leave the city, chatting, waiting for the guards to open the gates. For a sure minute the door stood still then with a big thud it started opening. Connor nudged the horse and started to walk out with the chaos of people.
"So where now, N/N?" Connor asked.
"Willowdale." You said, Connor hummed and got the horse to go into a fast run along the curves of the lower hills. You felt watched all along the way, while you rode. Like someone was following every step the horse took. Maybe it's just your mind playing games with you, it sure does that a lot. And even your day was filled and you were tired you didn't seem to get the urge to close your eyes and sleep. Well though, tiredness took over you soon as the sun hit the horizon again.
You still felt the ground move under you, and you still felt the hotness of the sun shadder and leave the surface of your skin. Though it was on a horse, you never felt more comfortable in your life.
