Sam and I walk inside my home, feeling the warmth of the heated house caressing our skin. My mom stands at the stove, and she looks back at me. "Hello, darling!" She chirps, happily. "You're home late. Who's your friend?" I look confused and I step back in caution. "Mom..." I start, hesitantly. "I already told you who he is..." "You're home late. Who's your friend? You're home late. Who's your friend? You're home late. Who's your friend?" My mom skips like a broken record or a glitching video game. "M-Mom?!" I exclaim in horror. "Please - stop!" The lights flicker and my mom is staring at me, confused, her brows furrowed in worry and her face twisted in concern. "Honey?" My mom starts speaking, cautiously. "Are you okay? I just said that I already knew your friend..." I stare wide-eyed at this comment. What happened? Did I see something? Did I hallucinate all of that? Is my mom... *real*...? Wait- no. Yes, she is. This is all just my intrusive thoughts bugging me. "Wh-Wha-? Yeah, I'm okay, mom. I just.... I think I need to rest a little bit..." I start, my voice becoming more dull sounding and cautious. "I... I think I'm just tired..." "That's understandable, sweetie." My mom starts, her tone showing her genuine compassion and concern. "Have a good night's sleep, okay? And be sure to wake up bright and early tomorrow, okay?" "Alright mom." I reply, confusion beginning to lace my words as I speak. "What's the occasion?" "It's a suprise!" "Oh, okay then. Goodnight, mom!" "Goodnight, sweetheart. Sweet dreams!" I start to walk to my room alone, the clacking of my high top shoes echoing in the hallway. I can't help but get chills. Something is wrong. Something is very wrong. I get another headache, but I suppress it. 'Not now,' I think to myself. 'Im tired. I need sleep. Nothing is wrong.' I head to bed, crawling under my covers as I turn off my lamp, and I go to sleep, deciding to not even question who turned my light on while I was gone, and why.
I wake up, groggily, to the sound of my alarm clock. '7:00am,' it read. I groan to myself as I crawl out of bed, get dressed, and I head downstairs for breakfast. The usual pushes and shoves of my brother occur, but it's nothing new. What is new, is that I'm now blocking him out. Huh. I've never done that before. Oh well. I sit down at the table. I eat breakfast and talk to my family. Brandon won't stop talking about his monster trucks and his best friend, Neville, coming over, later, and Sarah talks about her dance later with her crush, Issac. I'm happy for her. Soon enough, breakfast is over. My happiness drains out of my body as that foreboding feeling returns like instinct. Sans puts a hand on my shoulder. "Kid?" He starts, almost cautiously. I look up at him. His face shows worry, as limited as his expressions are. It fills me with dread. "Y-Yeah?" I manage to stutter out in worry. "We need to talk, okay? Follow me." Sans directs. He begins to walk away, and I get up out of my seat and follow him. We get to the spare bedroom of our new house, and he sits on tje bed, patting next to him, inviting me to sit, as well. He lifts his hand, placing it in his lap, and I take a seat in the bed next to him. Sans uses his magic and he shuts and locks the door. Then, he looks at me, his eyes pitch black in fear, like dark, empty, unfilled, wells, that can only be described as dark, empty, chasams. I almost shrink up in my seat. "Listen kid," Sans speaks, caution slightly lacing his deep and dark tone, carrying his deep concern, fear, and anger. "There's something wrong with that... friend you've been hanging around with, lately. He's dangerous, Y/N, I know it. Stay away from him, okay? Just stay awa-" Sans is cut off. Blood splatters out of his mouth and chest as he gasps for air and grabs the chest of his shirt in futility. He falls off the bed, falls on the floor, and he looks at me. One word escapes his mouth in a choked sputter. "Run." Before I can react, Sans turns into dust, falling and spreading across the floor. I gasp, and I run. I can't see anymore. I can't think anymore. I run out of the room and out of the house. I can get to the police, they'll help me. No... If someone had done this, they might be following me. I need to run in circles. I can't stop. I run into the kitchen, I make a right turn, towards the hallway, going to the front door, and I'm back where I started, instead. I run into the dining room, I make a left turn for our window in a nearby hallway and I'm back where I started, again, instead. Pain rackets through my head, my brain feeling like a cotton ball or a cloud, all swollen up with water. Then, I fall down, and succumb to darkness.
I wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and an aching migraine. I get up and I stumble downstairs. "Good morning, Mom..." I say, my voice weak as I hold myself up with the rail of the staircase. "Good morning, sweetie." My mom starts, her voice oddly sympathetic. "Are you feeling better, today?" "Mom...?" I hesitate to ask her this, but I could use the comfort of my shorter, skeletal, brother. "Where's Sans...?" My mom looks at me in a sort of confusion that twists my stomach into knots. An avocado pit sized lump of worry sits in my stomach, as my mom's voice reverberates off the walls in a chilling echo, within my ears. "Who's Sans?" she asks me, in confusion. My eyes widen in horror, and my breath hitches. My eyes fill with tears and I shake, profuse, my heart starting to race as fast as I'm shaking. "Is he one of your friends? You should bring him over, sometime!" One thing is on my mind. "What about Papyrus?"mI ask, with extreme trepidation. "Who?" My Mom's words echo in my head. They're gone.... My adopted brothers are both gone...
