*A/N: Hey my Power Readers! ust a reminder that I own nothing except for the plot of this book, Sarah, Brandon, Y/N's parents, and (of course) the character of Y/N! Goosebumps characters, plots, music, movies, games, books, merch, etc belongs to R.L. Stine. Undertale characters, games, plots, books, music, merch, etc belongs to Toby Fox! Thank you all for 17.5 reads! I love each and everyone of you! I'm so sorry about the long gap in updates. Since I've graduated in 2021, I can focus on the story more, so you can be sure to expect way more updates! This story's not over yet! This is just the tip of the iceberg! Thank you so much for all of your continued support through this long journey. Thank you, and enjoy the chapter!*
I look over at Sam. He's shaking like a leaf, just staring at R.L. Stine. "Do you know them, Sam?" I ask Sam, cocking a brow at him. "Wh- I- N- N- N- No! I- I mean..." He stutters, trying to explain. "Well, yeah, I do, but I wasn't expecting them to be here-" "What?" "I mean I didn't expect them to meet me up here." "Ah, I see." I look up at the sky in awe. A beautiful auburn sunset laced with brilliant reds, savoury oranges, lemon yellows, marvellous magentas, and pretty pastel pinks with a beautiful sun sitting in the centre of it all with whisps of clouds around the approaching-evening sky acts as our outdoor ceiling. When was the last time I'd been outside? When was the last time I'd seen the sun? "Sam?" I ask my friend, looking over at him. "Could we go somewhere for the night? I'm really tired and my home is a bit away from here. "Of course, Y/N!" Sam exclaims, almost excitedly. "What are friends for?" Sam's smile is as wide as ever, a comforting mix of happiness, joy, and acceptance. "We could drive you both there if you don't feel like walking." Stine offers us suddenly, his daughter Hannah beaming with happiness. "Thank you, Mr. Stine!" I say, very curtiously. Sam looks awkward but somewhat relieved now, much to my relief. "Thanks, Papa." Sam says, before slapping his hand over his mouth and his cheeks deepening in a deep red. "Aww!" I say, looking at Sam. "So that's why you recognized them before! They're your family?" I turn to Stine and extend my hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you sir." I say, giving them a proper introduction. "I'm Y/N by the way." "It's nice to meet you too, Y/N." Stine reciprocates, also in a very proper manner. "I'm R.L Stine, but you can just call me Stine. I'm Slappy's father." We then shake hands and then lower them back to our sides. Hannah walks up after her father is done and extends her hand. "I'm Hannah, it's very nice to meet you." She says, her smile so sweet it could give a sweet-tooth a toothache. I then extend my hand once more to introduce myself. "It's very nice to meet you, Hannah!" I say, reciprocating her smile. "I'm Y/N, but you can call me N/N if you want." We then shake hands and return them to our sides once more. "I'd be delighted if you could join us for tea, tonight, Y/N." Stine invites. "That way we can get to know you better." My eyes light up and sparkle in excitement. "Oh that would be absolutely wonderful!" I beam in happiness. This feels like a dream come true! I discretely pinch the side of my leg to see if I'm dreaming. Upon feeling the pain, I come to the conclusion that I am indeed awake. We mutually decide we should start hiking down the mountain, and begin our long trek down. We engage in small talk for a bit, walking down. Mostly about things like, "how does this sun feel? What about the wind?" What kinds of food are there? Is there magic up here?" and things like that. I kind of feel an odd feeling, like they shouldn't be here. Like they don't belong here. A shiver rolls down my back as I have a slight pain in my head. I just write it off as a headache and I shake off the feelings with a smile and simply keep chatting. Eventually, we reach the bottom and we all get in the slick, black, car. It looks really nice! I read about these books while I was in the Underground in the scattered books thrown down by humans like me and my family, and this car is called a Waggoner. I read that it's supposed to have really good mileage on it. As we all sit in the car, strapped in with the seatbelt, after much difficulty with understanding, and direction in regards to the protective device. Sam and I sit next to each other, Sam is on the left while I am on the right. Hannah is sitting in the passengers seat next to her dad as he drives on the left side in the drivers seat, of course. Sam and I make small talk, some of which become conversations. "Did you know anything about the surface before now?" Sam asks, curiosity lacing his words as he leans his head on the window of the car. "Well yes, just not very much. Like we know what a car is but we don't know what that is." I say, pressing my finger against the windows glass, straight at the giant ball of yellow and orange that lit up the afternoon sky. "That's called the 'sun', Y/N." Sam informs me with a slight chuckle escaping the chasms of his throat. "Woah!" I exclaim, wonder consuming my brain. "How is it that big? Is it hot or cold? How has it not had any negative effects or impacts on the world?" "Woah woah!" Sam exclaims, waving his hands down is a rushing manner. "One thing at a time!" A slight chuckle slips past my lips as I gaze into his cocoa brown eyes and listen as attentively as I can. "First off, The Sun is so big because it's a matter of perspective." He starts to explain. "The Sun is the only star this close to the Earth, so It looks bigger. It's really hot. Also, the reason it hasn't burned humans and monsters to crisp already, is most likely because it's not close enough to Earth to cause catastrophic damage." My eyes widen in shock and wonder, but as quickly as that feeling arrived, it felt... familiar. It was like... I already heard this all before. I suddenly get a massive headache, catching Sam's attention. I try to search through my thoughts and memories of my entire life, desperate to find the answer. Where did I hear it before though? I can't put my finger on it. No books I've ever read mentioned them, school certainly didn't mention any of this, and no movies or television programs have ever even remotely mentioned or suggested a topic like this - not even the science fiction ones! Suddenly, I feel my body shaking from my left shoulder. "Y/N?" Slappy calls my name as he snaps his fingers in front of my face. I jolt back to reality, shaking my head. "S-sorry," I stutter, clutching the right side of my head tightly. "What happened - er what's happening? Huh?" Sam snickered and pulled me in close, rubbing my shoulder. As he rubs my shoulder soothingly, I can't help but think about how hard it is to believe this man never even knew what love was just a week ago - wait, what am I thinking?! I don't have feelings for him! We just met a week or two ago! My cheeks turn a shade of dark red, reminiscent to the color of black cherries, and my heart is pounding softly in my chest. A smile spreads across my face as I close my eyes. Just as they're almost closed, however, I see Hannah looking over at the two of us, a slight look of somber worry and pity twisted and mixed with a look of bittersweet sadness and happiness for her, previously wooden, sibling. Before I can address the look she's giving me, I drift off to sleep.
