"They what?" (Y/N) cried, staring at her phone with wide eyes.

"Magath is hiring you again!" Pieck's excited voice yelled. It was early morning, and (Y/N) had woken up to the shrill sound of her phone ringing. She had picked up, worried about why Pieck was calling so early in the morning. Was everything alright? Did something happen? It was too early and (Y/N)'s brain was still waking up, so there was a huge chance (Y/N) misheard Pieck.

"What do you mean, Magath is hiring me again?" (Y/N) frowned, sitting up straighter in bed. "He fired me just three days ago. I literally insulted him and called him an incompetent boss. Why would he hire me? I lost the patent."

"No! Hange gave up half of their claim to you," Pieck squealed. "Everyone's been talking about it, and supposedly Magath is going to call you in to win you over again. There's a rumor that he's going to offer you a really good job as lead engineer! He really wants that patent, you know?"

"Pieck, I literally woke up and I have no idea what you're saying," (Y/N) rubbed at her eyes. "Is this some kind of prank? Because it's not funny. I desperately need a job and teasing me with one is only going to make me annoyed."

"I swear to you, (Y/N), this is not a prank! I'm at Marley right now—I came early to get some work done—and I saw Hange leaving his office! Hange and Erwin! Why are they here, (Y/N)? Did you tell them something?" Pieck asked, excitedly.

"Huh?" (Y/N) blinked. Hange was at Marley? What were they doing over there? It was six in the morning; shouldn't they have been at home and eating breakfast?

"Get over here right now, (Y/N), I feel like something big is happening," Pieck said. "I don't know what and I don't know when, but I feel like you're going to be part of a huge decision. Get your butt down here right now."

"I—okay," (Y/N) sighed as she got off the bed. "But if I get there, and nothing is happening, I'll be upset. I was having a really good dream before you called and woke me up."

"Let me guess—it was about Hange?"

"What? No!" (Y/N) scoffed. It was, indeed, about Hange. But she didn't need to tell Pieck that. "Anyways, I'll be there in an hour."

"I'll be waiting!"

(Y/N) had rushed out of Hange's mansion as fast as she could. But before she left, she had checked to see if they were really not at home. Every room in the huge, silent, mansion was empty. Not a single human life in sight. Thankfully, their home was located near Marley Tech's headquarters, so it only took about a mile run for (Y/N) to get there. Her heart thrummed with anticipation. What had Pieck been saying? Was it true? But why? Why would Hange just randomly give up half of the patent to her? And after that weeks-long feud and the entire patent wars...it didn't make sense. 

(Y/N) arrived at Marley Tech, panting. She was out of breath and really anxious. Pieck was standing near the entrance, eyes trained on her phone. The second she saw (Y/N), her face brightened.

"(Y/N)! Right on time! Magath was just about to call you, everyone's waiting in the conference room!"

"Huh?" (Y/N) cried, completely lost. "Why would everyone wait for me in the conference room? Pieck, what on earth is happening?"

"Okay, so, this morning Hange and Erwin came to meet Magath. I'm not sure what they talked about, but Magath seems really happy. It was then I asked around and someone said they overheard Hange saying that they would give up half of their claim to you. So that you can be the rightful owner of the patent!"
