(Y/n)'s POV

A few hours later, I got a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?" I answered suspiciously.

"Oh, hello, is this Miss (L/n)?" The caller asked.

"Yes."

"This is the XXXX Hospital and your mother has...been in an accident."

I froze. I almost dropped my phone. I felt the blood drain from my face.

"...Is she okay?" I asked trembling after a long silence.

"Yes, she is alive but unconscious. We have taken care of her. I suggest you come here to visit."

"Okay, I'll do that right away," I ended the call. I felt like crying but tears did not fall from my eyes. Why her? Why does my mother have to be in an accident??

I hopped on my bike and sped my way towards the hospital. A few car horns rang as I dodged the cars which was very dangerous. But that was the least of my problem right now. I needed to see my mom.

I arrived at the hospital and ran inside.

I asked the counter for my mom's room and I got in the elevator.

I tapped my foot impatiently as the elevator rode its way up slowly. Maybe the stairs were faster. Now I regret taking the elevator.

After a few seconds, the elevator dinged, opening its door.

I speedily walked towards my mom's room and burst the door open.

...Only to see my mom laying on a bed with an oxygen mask and a few tubes. A monitor next to her beeped at her heartbeat.

Seeing her like this made my eye blurry. Now, tears were falling down my face as I just crashed down on the floor, crying.

I didn't notice the door open and a doctor came in to calm me down. After a long while, I calmed down.

I sniffled.

"Here, take this tissue," The doctor said.

"Thank you."

The doctor explained to me what had happened.

My mother was walking when a drunk TRUCK driver crashed into her. It was a miracle she was alive after that, unlike SOMEONE ELSE. (Hmm, I wonder who?? You don't have to worry if you only watch the anime wink wink ) sorry for joking around.

The driver was arrested and my mom was carried to the hospital. After surgery and a few tests, she was okay. But the last part made me freeze once again.

"Your mother might not fully recover from this. We need to keep her in the hospital for a couple of months. But don't worry, your mother might not be fully recovered but your mother is still your mother," The doctor smiled sadly.

I blinked back my tears. The doctor left the room to leave us alone. After a few minutes, my dad barged in and hurried over.

He looked at his wife's state and he was expressionless. I never saw him cry before.

"Dad..." I whispered. "You don't have to hold back..."

Then, a warm liquid fell on my arm. I looked up to see my dad had tears running down his face but his face was expressionless.

I stood up and rubbed his back.

After dad and I talked for a bit about mom's accident. we calmed down a little. We stared at mom for a long time and we didn't even talk. It was already night.

"Let's go home, now, it's pretty late, or do you wanna stay here?" My dad asked kindly.

"...I'll stay here." I said.

"Okay, I'll go home then, tell me if she wakes up." My dad hugged me and then patted my mom's head gently before leaving.

After a few hours, my eyes became heavy. I fell asleep next to mom's bed.

The next morning, I woke up to the sunlight peeking through the hospital curtains.

I stretched my stiff body from the weird position I slept on.

I looked at my mom but she was still not waking up. I sighed.

I haven't eaten anything so I decided to go buy food from the convenience store.

I entered the convenience store and went straight to get Peyoung when I bumped into someone.

"Oh, sorry," I mumbled but looked up when I heard a familiar voice.

"(L/n)-san!!"

"...Chifuyu?"

Seeing his bright smile made me tear up somehow

Seeing his bright smile made me tear up somehow. I didn't know why. Is it because of mom? Did his smile make me want to never hold anything back from him?

"H-hey! (L/n)-san?? Why are you crying?" Chifuyu panicked.

I wiped my tears away with the back of my hands and smiled. "It's nothing, Chifuyu, thanks for worrying!"

I tried to leave but Chifuyu grabbed my arm and pulled me close.

"(L/n)-san, don't hold back. You can cry all you want. Tell me what happened."

We walked towards a park together and sat down. I talked about everything, about my mom and the accident. When I finished talking, Chifuyu suddenly hugged me.

My eyes widened at his actions.

"I'm so sorry to hear that (L/n)-san, but I promise your mother will get better soon. You can rely on me anytime, okay? I'm always here for you." He hugged me tighter.

I hugged him back, as tears silently rolled down my cheeks and landed on Chifuyu's shoulders.

His actions, his face, his smell, his everything always comforted and calmed me down. I couldn't have done anything without him.

"Thank you, Chifuyu," I mumbled on his sweater and smiled.
