Cheesy Yet Sentimental

======================================

Never thought I could like cheese this much.

Techno quickly finished putting away some items he got from the nether. Once he was done, he made his way to Y/n's room. He softly knocked on the door only to be met with a groggy "Come in."

He walked in to see Y/n laying on her bed and staring at the ceiling. Her hair was down and her usual shoes were off in a corner. She was deep in thought. Her mind racing with endless possibilities, mentally preparing for the worst.

"I heard you were upset, so I just wanted to come and check in on you," Techno said walking over to the side of the woman's bed.

Y/n let out a long sigh. Tommy and Wilbur were being difficult all night. She wanted to rant about it to Techno. But she wasn't sure if her thoughts were safe in his care.

"It's whatever. Left out of the loop as always," Y/n complained.

"Tell me about it. If you're comfortable." He leaned on the wall beside her head. His arms were crossed in front of him.

Y/n quickly debated the pros and cons of telling a pink-haired man how she felt. She would usually go to Niki about these things whenever she had the chance. But Niki was too far to vent to. Eventually, the woman scooted to the side of the bed and patted the spot next to her, inviting Techno to lay with her. Techno just looked at her confused. Y/n sighed and pulled the man to the spot. She didn't want him standing, it might take her a while to fully get her thoughts out.

She waited for Techno to get comfortable beside her. He was laying on his back, hands over his stomach. Sometimes, he would glance over to check y/n's expressions. Just so he could get a read on her emotions.

"I love my job. Protecting Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo... makes me happy knowing that I can keep them safe. I've been doing it the day I stepped foot on these lands and I don't regret it at all," Y/n sighed. Her gaze on the ceiling grew more intense as she thought about her past, about what led her here. "But when people only see you as a bodyguard, you are treated with the lowest regard. I'm only a weapon to them, a shield. An object meant to be used, manipulated, and often mistreated."

Techno turned to look at the woman. The bags under her eyes suddenly became clearer. Her e/c eyes brimmed with tears. His heart grew heavy at the sight of her. At this time he hadn't come to know what it was like to be seen as a weapon. But it would soon be a feeling he would come to know quite well. For now, all he could do was be there and listen.

"I should be used to only being told half the information everyone else knows. But, it's just frustrating that I can't, you know? Especially if it's something I can feel is bad." Y/n pulled at her hair. "All I've ever wanted was for everyone to be safe and happy. I've been prepared for someone on the other side to start something crazy. I'm usually quick to identify threats. But when it comes from your own side..." Y/n paused.

Images of Eret's betrayal flashed through her head. That day, she knew his demeanor had shifted strangely. But she couldn't help but give him the benefit of the doubt. If only she rode on that suspension, maybe the day would've played out in their favor. Maybe, no one would've gotten hurt.

"They're harder to manage."

The room was silent. Y/n had so much more she wanted to say. But dumping it all on Techno seemed like too much for one night. So, she held it in.

"Maybe... I should switch sides..." y/n mumbled to herself.

Techno's ears twitched at her sudden slip-up. "You're thinking about switching sides?" Techno got up to look at her.

"I'm sorry for rambling on about this. You probably have your baggage. I just..." Y/n sat up as well and scooted back until she reached the wall.

"Don't change the subject. Really? Switching sides?" Techno asked. "You know, Tommy feels guilty about what happened. He wanted me to tell you he's sorry."

"Why not tell me himself?"

"He wanted to give you space. Honestly, he probably didn't think you'd want to see him anyways," Techno said.

"I'll make sure to talk to him sometime tomorrow. I know it's not all his fault. I should apologize," Y/n admitted, hugging herself.

"You have nothing to apologize for. You had the right to be frustrated and feel the way you did then. They didn't have a reason for lying to you like that. It's just like that sometimes," Techno tried his best to explain. "Now don't switch sides on us. Who else here would be useful enough to help me out?"

Y/n laughed at his question. As much as she doesn't want to admit it, she was needed there. There were people who needed her protection, her skills. Y/n was where she needed to be and no one could change that.

"Get some shut-eye nerd. I'm off to bed," Techno said while getting up from his position on the bed.

"If you ever need me, you know where to go," Techno walked towards the door. Before leaving he turned back to the woman. "Seriously though y/n. I'm here for you."

Y/n gave him a soft smile, then watched as the man left. She can admit, talking to Techno did make her feel better. He had a calming aura to him, despite his occasional bouts of destruction and murder.
