A Small Request Between Friends
======================================
Why are you the one?

It was late in the evening. The moon shone brightly above the mountain peaks. Techno was finishing planting the last of the potatoes. Despite his usual speed when farming, he had taken tonight slower to think a little. His special moment with Y/n hadn't left his mind ever since the two of them came back to the ravine for the day. The warmth he felt from her touch, the serenity, and the silence... It was intoxicating. But he knew there was an issue with this new feeling. Techno was undoubtedly alive, but not in the same way she was. He would outlive her and bear another lifetime of mourning.
The others were already resting in their rooms, sleeping the night away. Well except for Wilbur. He just came back from wherever he was. The brunette was on his way to his room until he saw Techno knee-deep in the potato farm. He decided to keep the man some company. In all honesty, he had been meaning to talk to Techno. But would end up caught in something else.
"Shouldn't you be off to bed?" Wilbur asked, leaning on the entrance of the farm. "Y/n would get upset."
"It'll be alright. I just gotta finish planting then I'll hit the hay," Techno responded, never taking his eyes off his potatoes.
"Fine by me."
There was a short silence. Techno was moving from hole to hole, focusing on planting everything just right. Wilbur just leaned on a nearby wall, thinking about how to bring up his concerns. Especially to someone seemingly emotionless.
"So..." Wilbur said awkwardly elongating the word. "You and y/n have been getting closer."
Techno flinched a little at his statement. Bright pink dust resting over his cheeks.
"Yeah, she's cool," Techno said, trying to seem calm.
"I've grown quite attached to her over time. Not romantically just to make myself clear. Her loyalty is admirable, so are the cards she'd been dealt, skills she's developed. She's amazing, honestly."
"True" repeated over and over in Techno's head. Some comments about y/n were violent, but they were just green with envy. The pinkette himself couldn't help but think of the woman. Causing his cheeks to erupt in color. Her determination and kindness could never be outmatched in his eyes. (Sorry Frisk)
"In all honesty, I'm glad you two are. She's always just stuck around, never really finding someone she can be herself with. You know?"
Techno didn't respond. He just planted his potatoes and listened. Making sure he absorbed everything Wilbur said.
"Even around me. I guess she's just trying to put up her best front so I felt safe. She is a bodyguard after all," Wilbur let out a small chuckle. "What I'm trying to say is, you are one of the only people she met without her feeling as if she was tied to a certain role. So, around you, she isn't some 2-dimensional bodyguard. She's not a shallow pond. She's not—" Wilbur looked down in frustration. He let out a deep breath. "She's y/n. She's happy. That's all I've ever really wanted for her." The room fell silent again.
Techno cleared his throat. "That's what I want for her too. To be happy."
"Can I ask you something, Techno?"
Now fully done planting, Techno turned towards Wilbur. He was slightly slouched, one arm holding the other in front of him. Wilbur wore a sad smile, his usual wide eyes had softened a bit.
