"Lieutenant, what's up?" Edward held his hands in his pockets, an unamused look plastered on his face.

"You wanted to go back to Shou Tucker's today right? I'll give you a ride." He had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, you hardly ever saw him without one.

"Oh yeah, we didn't get to go yesterday," The brothers shared a smile and a nod of agreement. "Why don't you come with us? He's a state alchemist letting us use his study," they offered to let you come with.

The rest of your day was open, you had no urgent cases to attend to and you refused to talk to Lenny any longer, at least for the day. Maybe it was a good idea to rest.

"Sure, I'll come."

"A talking Chimera?" You stared at Edward in astonishment with your arms crossed over your chest.

"Amazing right? We may learn a thing or two studying under him," the blonde Elric shined brightly as he talked about his beloved alchemy. His ambition was powerful, and for a brief moment you wondered what it would be like if you had continued using alchemy. If you'd feel more useful, or if you'd feel guilty using the very thing that got your brother killed.

The car stopped in front of a large mansion, and at the sight your jaw dropped to the floor. "Woahh," you stepped out of the car and suddenly felt very small. You gulped and walked behind the boys who had been here once before just a couple days ago.

Before you could even knock on the door, it flew open and out came a ginormous dog that clobbered Edward ruthlessly.

"AHH! Get off me you mangy mutt! Yuck-" he spat as the sweet looking dog gave his face a million kisses.

"How cute!" You squealed with little heart shapes in your eyes. You were very much an animal lover, so your being here had just became much more exciting.

"Hello again boys, who is this pretty young lady you've brought with you?" A older man with glasses stood in the doorway with a kind smile on his face.

"Oh- uh," you nervously stood close to Al and bowed slightly. "I'm (Y/n), nice to meet you,"

"She's our friend," Alphonse added in, and it made your heart flutter with happiness.

"Nice to meet you (Y/n). Come on in, Nina is napping now so she won't be much of a bother for the time being," he was a very soft spoken person, and even with his kind greeting something felt off about him.

"Thank you," you stepped in behind Al, and Edward followed shortly, wiping his face clean of slobber. "You just got owned by a dog, shorty," you teased Edward with a grin.

"Shut up," he grunted and clenched his fists, glaring daggers at you. Before a fist fight could break out, Alphonse slid between you and held Ed by the back of his coat.

You stepped into a large room set up like a library, and the only content held in that room was alchemy. To think there was so much written knowledge about alchemy yet the philosophers stone remained a hidden mystery was unbelievable to you.

The brothers had taken their seats on the hard floor with stacks of books next to them. The collection had impressed you at first, but after staring at the ceiling in silence for an hour you got bored. You slid your butt next to Edward and looked over his shoulder, reading the complex yet familiar words on the page.

"What are you doing?" Edward caught his breath in his throat, side eyeing you with a soft pink blush on his cheeks from your closeness.

"I'm curious," your eyes glossed over the two open pages, and without his consent you turned the page and smiled. "Hey that's pretty cool," you took the book from his hands. He didn't resist, but he glared at you with disapproval.
