"Yes?"
"When this is all over, do you think you could stay by her side?" Wilbur asked.
Techno was at a loss for words. Even the voices in his head were quiet.
"I mean like a friend, or something more if you wanted. Just, keep her away from it all. You know, governments, militaries, all sorts. Because, if she were left alone she would lose herself again. Y/n would give herself to work for someone who wouldn't care for her existence. She'd lose everything she's built here. The friends, her aspirations," Wilbur took in a breath. His breathing grew unsteady.
"I dragged her through so much strife, Techno. She left everything behind to help me lead a war, two now! Y/n guarded my life, day after day, night after night if she had to. Not once taking time for herself. And I watched her slowly grow tired. I watched her become numb. I made her numb." Wilbur clutched his chest.
The guilt he's been holding onto was surfacing. Techno didn't know what to do. He wanted to help his friend, but all he could do was watch and listen.
"I lie to her, make a fool out of her, and she expects nothing more than to be treated like that. It's engraved into her mind that she is worth that! I planted that seed inside of her head!" Wilbur strained to let the words flow. He choked on the truth and let it destroy his composure.
One time, where the screw he had loosed, tightened for once. While he could think clearly, he wanted it to be now. He wanted to let everything he's held in out now.
"But with you, she springs to life. She has expression, her drive. It's never an 'I have to' anymore. It's an 'I want to.' For the first time, she's building her character. She's creating her own story and adding depth. So please, just this once, Techno. Promise me, you'll stand by her side for as long as you can," Wilbur finished, begging.
Techno was lost. He cared deeply for Wilbur, he wanted to reassure him. He would be lying if he said y/n didn't hold a special place in his heart. If Techno could, he would love to stand by her side for as long as he wanted to. But he couldn't just force his way into the woman's life, nor make decisions for her. That's just wrong.
The pink-haired man sighed. "If she wants me there, then I will. I can't promise you I can fully keep her away from the world, but I can try," Techno attempted to reassure.
Wilbur felt a small weight lift from his shoulder. He sighed in relief.
"That's all I needed to hear."

A little history about y/n and Wilbur!
Wilbur had joined Phil in one of his adventures out into the world. One of the places Phil had to visit was a small coastal village. That was where they had met her. Y/n, the heroin of the village. The two had gotten along very well and spent all of their time bonding. To him, she was a mystery and to her, he was a symbol of life.
Apon Phil and Wilbur's departure, they had promised to never lose contact with one another no matter the circumstance. And that is what they did. No announcement, no event, and no secrets were held from one another as they grew. Even occasionally rekindling at the same village they had first met.
With a bond stronger than most, Wilbur's conflict with the DreamSMP did not go unnoticed no matter the distance between them. Y/n had originally warned him of the consequences of starting a revolution. But Wilbur had pushed for it. L'Manberg's struggle with keeping afloat through the war got urged the young brunette to call for help. Knowing his dear friend was strong and undoubtedly capable, he called for help.
Willing to lend her friend a hand, she left her life behind and made her way to L'Manberg. Upon her arrival, she was quickly appointed a general. Y/n's job was not easy and the importance of it did not go unnoticed. Because of this, she engulfed herself in her work much like Wilbur. It was this that had sparked their strained friendship.
Their perseverance and seriousness had saved L'Manberg from its fall. Because of this y/n was destined to return to her life before the war. However, her loyalties had chained her down to the people that called L'Manberg home.
From then on, she was referred to as Wilbur's bodyguard. Constantly following and protecting Wilbur every day for almost 24 hours. Much like her job previously, she let in consume every ounce of her day.
Becoming the country's shield, strained herself and her relationship more than ever.
Wilbur neglected her. He had gotten used to her being there every day. It wasn't until Wilbur's identity crisis was he able to see where he had gone wrong. His guilt eats at him every time he is in her presence. So when he saw someone who was being somebody y/n needed, a sense of relief washed over him.
I will say his request is selfish. But I wanted to give him one feeling of closure despite it being from someone else.
