Contrary to popular belief, I do have a job. And in my opinion, I hold it down quite well. I just got my promotion to write my own pieces for the journalism company I work for, Avant-Garde. They're literally the only reason why I am still in the city. If they weren't so well known and if they weren't about to make or break my journalism career then I most certainly wouldn't still be here.
My boss, Lucia Gordon, Is the most formidable woman I've ever met. I mean, you have to be in my line of work, but this woman could squeeze every single secret out of you with a long, hard stare. I'm absolutely convinced that's how she got her job in the first place. By staring. She's really something too, she has a great body, these piercing green eyes and tight brown curls which she always keeps tied in a bun. No wonder all the men are pining after her and all the women are jealous. For me, I'm in awe. She's one of those idols that you don't regret meeting. I mean, if I'm being perfectly honest, she scares the shit out of me but that doesn't stop me from wanting to be just like her. I would do anything to be like her and to have her job. Mainly to have her job.
'Alexis.' Lucia says. Short and Sharp. Like normal.
My head snaps up and I catch her walking back into her office. I've got to get there before her door shuts. I'm not making the same mistake as last time. I grab my notebook and run towards the quickly closing door.
Lucia nods 'I like it when my employees are prompt.'
I give her a tight smile. What am I supposed to say to that?
'I'm giving you a new piece. Ditch the one you are working on, I'll give it to someone else,' She pauses momentarily 'It's a piece on Sebastian Grey.'
I raise my eyebrows, Sebastian Grey. 'Like the Sebastian Grey'
'Yes Alexis. The Sebastian Grey'
I'm struggling to keep in my excitement. This is going to be so big for me. 'Why me? I only just got my promotion, wouldn't you want someone more experienced?'
'Why not you Alexis. It's your time to prove yourself, I didn't give you this promotion for no reason.'
I nod my head, vigorously 'Yup. Yes, yes. Definitely.'
'Don't disappoint me.'
And with that, she was done. Oh my God. See this is why I am still in the city. For this very reason. I am going to interview the face of every new technology product going. The face of vanity fair, vogue, etcetera. I am not going to let this opportunity pass me by.
Just before I leave she stops me. 'Oh and Alexis,' She stops as she waits for me to turn back around. 'Your meeting with him is in half an hour.'
She must be joking 'Excuse me.'
'Yes. You may leave now.'
I blink at her a couple times. How am I supposed to prepare with half an hour's notice? This is completely unfair. I suppose I'll just have to get a taxi and prepare on the way there.

I step out of the taxi. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, but I'm not letting all the work I put in go to waste. I've done it before, I'll do it again. I'll wing it.
I walk into the building and walk up to the receptionist's desk. 'I'm here to see Mr Grey. I'm here for an interview.'
'Of course,' She replies 'Alexis Camden?'
'Yes' I nod.
She smiles at me 'You can go straight up, he's waiting on you.'
'Thank you.' I say as I make my way to the elevator.
I spent the whole journey up trying to stop my nerves. This might be a big deal but I've done this before. Just with less famous people. His assistant smiles at me from infront of his office. She wishes me good luck before opening the door. 'Sebastian, the journalist is here to see you.'
I step in. He looks up. Those eyes and that hair. His eyebrows raise. 'Hey you.' He says, looking me up and down. It's him. That annoying guy from in front of starbucks. The guy that I was maybe, remotely rude to.
I way up my options and decide that it is absolutely not worth my time to be around this man. 'Nope.' I say, I am very unamused. Unlike him.
'Come one, I'm not going to bite.' He replies, He's finding this amusing.
I blink twice. 'Absolutely not.'
And so I turn on my heels and walk out.
