'You shouldn't have gone.'

I'm sitting at my breakfast bar, trying my very best to ignore Alice complaining about me going to see Theo's parents.

'I told you not to go.' She repeats for the fourth time.

'Yes Alice, I know you did.'

'Well I'm glad you know because now his parents think you're going to marry him. Including his sweet, little sister.'

'Alice, you never know what might happen. I might end up with Theo.'

Alice stops in her tracks, reaches out her hand and slams the lid of my laptop down before I can do anything to stop her.

'You are not marrying Theo.'

'Excuse me?' I ask. I can't deal with Alice and her mood swings, one moment Theo's the one, next moment, dating him is the biggest mistake of my entire life.

'I can't let you do that.' She sighs. 'I've seen you with Sebastian. I do not give my permission for you to marry anyone else.'

'And what makes you think I need your permission.'

'Alexis, I am your best friend. Without me, you would be a lonely girl who spends her days holed up in her bed. With only coffee for a friend. Do you really want that Lexi?'

She raises her eyebrows as she waits for me to answer.

When I just blink at her she clicks her fingers in my face. 'Yes or Yes Lexi. Snap out of it.'

'Fine Alice. Fine.' I narrow my eyes. 'But I still don't need your permission for anything. You aren't my mother.'

'Like you'd listen to your mother anyway.' She retorts.

I give her a glare. But she's right. No matter how crazy Alice is. She always seems to be right.

'Sebastian's not talking to me Alice.'

'Blah, that's because you're not talking to him. Also because you were horrible to him and probably shattered his poor emotional soul.'

'Mmh.'

I really doubt Sebastian possess anything close to a brain, let alone a soul. Otherwise he would've stopped bothering me a long time ago.

'Just go see him. It's worth it. You know he'd forgive you... as long as you admit you want him.' Then she shrugs. 'Which shouldn't be too hard since it's true.'

'Alice-'

'Then,' She carries on with her finger in the air. 'You go see Theo and break the news to him that, well, you and him just aren't meant to be. No matter how much you loved his family and how much you loved his sister. A marriage between the two of you just wouldn't be plausible. You know?'

She tilts her head to the side. I think she's just proud that she's come up with the most drama creating plan in the world.

I shake my head. 'I'm not doing that Alice. Get a grip.'

She crosses her arms over her chest. 'Lexi, you disappoint me every day.'

I roll my eyes. 'Alice, I have work to do. Can we talk later.'

'I feel like you're kicking me out because I annoyed you.'

'Your feelings are correct.' I say shooing her away.

'I'll be back Alexis Camden.' She says jabbing her finger at me.

I watch her grab her stuff and leave.

Once the door closes, I open up my laptop. An email pings from Lucia, the woman really loves to ruin my alone time. I open it and read it in less than a minute. All it says is to come into the office. I sigh. I swear if I really wanted to I could just forget that I ever worked hard for my journalism degree and become Lucia's personal assistant.

I'm standing in Lucia's office whilst she bustles around me. First she's on the phone, then she's answering emails, then she's taking a coffee break and then she's on the phone again. Sometimes I wonder how on earth she finds enough time to yell at me.

When she's finally finished she offers me a seat.

'Take this to Sebastian.' She says as she shoves yet another envelope in my face.

'Why?' I ask

'What do you mean why Alexis. Because I asked you to. That's why.' She stands up and walks to the window behind her desk.

I am strongly opposed to taking this envelope to Sebastian. Mainly because I don't want to see him. 'Can't you mail it?'

She spins around and glares at me. 'Alexis. Why on earth would I mail it when I have such a trusted employee, like you.'

I narrow my eyes. I feel like there were one too many compliments in that sentence.

'Are you just asking me because me and Sebastian are friends.'

Lucia blinks at me. 'The two of you are more than friends. I'm not stupid.'

I shake my head but she brushes me off.

'Why don't you use that to your advantage, to boost your career.'

I let her thought mull in the air before replying. It's not like I haven't weighed up the positives of being with Sebastian.

'Lucia, me and Sebastian-'

She walks forward and leans on the desk. Her face is so close to mine, I can smell the coffee on her breath. 'Alexis, do you want to keep your job?'

I have a funny feeling that if I reported her to HR she wouldn't have a job. But I'm going to keep that to myself for a later date.

I sigh. 'I'll take it, fine.'

She smiles to herself. 'Hmm, that's what I thought.'

I resist the urge to roll my eyes. The awe I used to feel for Lucia is very quickly disappearing. 'What's in it?'

'And that Alexis, is between me and Mr Grey. Now go. Run my errand.' She flicks her hand at me like I'm a pesky animal.

Seriously, I don't understand how someone could be so blatantly rude.
