Chapter 48

"Bucky get up." I tell him as I myself got up, the pain being more bearable, he looked up from his sitting position, took a deep breath and stood up. For a quick second I had completely forgotten how tall he was, and broad shouldered, I had to look up to him, his hair was in a very messy bun and his ocean blue eyes were red and puffy,

"First of all, never apologise to me. You did kill the man so just forget it okay?" I tell him, and he just rolled his eyes, I decided not to pay attention to it and continued,

"And second.." I said taking the bandage off of my ribcage,

"Mia no, don't do it." he said trying to stop me, but he stopped once I sent a death glare his way,

"It's already healing, look." I told him, the wound was there but it wasn't as bad and as deep, there was very little blood and almost all the flesh had closed up, it was still stinging a bit tho.

"I am fine, I am here because you rescued me and saved me and brought me here. Not because you were afraid not because you were frozen into place. No, you saved me and you killed him. And you know what else died with that man?" I asked him and he shook his head,

"With him died all the pain and the power they had over you. The pain they made you endure, now the only pain will be the memories, never let any man have that much power over you ever. You hear me? You are exceptional and great and an amazing man and soldier and friend, and that is who you are. You are not their experiment, not anymore." I tell him and he just nodded, 

"I'm still really sorr-" he started but I shushed him by wrapping my arms around him and laying my head against his torso, I could hear his heartbeat and it was soothing, he slowly wrapped his arms around me, 

"You're an amazing girl, you know that?" he asked, the vibration of is words making me giggle a bit as I had my head still pressed against him,

"That's because I am surrounded by amazing people, just like you." I tell him, I pulled away a bit to look up at him,

"The final word in all this is, that you saved me and I hope you will always be there to save me from crazy men like him." I tried to laugh a bit and he looked at me deep in the eyes,

"I promise, I will. Always." he said then brought me closer to him, this hug was different. It was needy and it was full of an emotions I couldn't comprehend, then I felt it. His lips on my forehead, lingering long enough for it to be a promise, a promise that no matter what he will always be there and always protect me. His strong arms were the safest place I had been in a while and I was grateful I had such amazing friends around me. 

"Now tell me. How long was I out for?" I asked as he helped me put on a shirt, which I assume was one of his since it was really too big for me, then he helped me sit on the bed.

"Around 4 hours. Your powers are incredible, I think that in no time you will heal from something like that in like 5 minutes or even less." he said trying to make me laugh and he succeeded,

"Let's hope I don't need to heal again, for a long time." I tell him and he smiled at me, he kneeled down and started to tie my shoes,

"I can do this Buck you don't need to-" I started,

"Shhh let me help, will you? And I am practically sure that you can't even bend over to tie them yourself." he said and I didn't try to argue, I just thanked him,

"Wait, isn't Bruce supposed to say that I am good to leave?" I asked him, seeing that outside it was starting to become day,

"He passed by an hour before you woke up, he said that once you would be up and felt like it, you could go back to your room and that he would check on you later in the morning." he told me helping me up, 

"Oh I see, okay then let's go." I tell him with a smile,

"Wanda kept Aly by the way." he told me, I had forgotten about Aly, my poor baby,

"Oh good, I think I heard Wanda say she would check on her but I wasn't sure that I had heard correctly. Thank you for letting me know. Could we pass by the kitchen quickly to grab something to eat I am starving." I tell him, and he just nodded and laughed a bit,

"What? What's so funny?" I asked trying to give him a death glare but failing miserably, 

"You're cute when you do that." he said, to which I laughed and rolled my eyes,

"And I laugh because you are almost always hungry." he said laughing still, I shook my head,

"Can't argue with you on that, I am starved all the time that is true." I joined in on laughing. 

"By the way a lot of people visited you right after the fight. I mean everyone, even director Fury." he said, and the last part made me frown, 

"I still don't know why he took so long to come and where he was." I tell him, I was starting to think about different things that I would need to clarify with him. 

"Did Peter pass by, by any chance?" I asked Bucky, I wasn't sure he had heard me because I had asked that question so softly, he gave me a sad look and put his arm around me,

"It's fine he probably wasn't notified anyway." I said trying to convince myself. 

What's on the menu? A massive heartbreak I see.
