"no way.", i turn to stare at my twin sister who's standing beside me.

"this can't be..", we both stare at the board in front of us in disbelief.

"they can't do this, we're twins! how dare they???"

"should we go quickly print a new one and replace this-"

"don't even think about it." ah, our class advisor from last school year. why is she even standing here? must've waited for us to see our reactions. we did do a lot of pranks during class hahah.. this must be revenge.

"i'm pretty sure you both know why we separated the both of you. no more unnecessary pranks during classes. have a fun first day, twins."

"goodbye ma'am.." , we both say as she continue to greet other students.

"i can't believe we're not classmates especially that it's our last year?? makes no damn sense.", i nod in agreement. lumine and i were always together obviously, since we're twins.

we were always classmates and this is our first school year that we get separated. somehow.. it's kinda depressing.. we'll eventually start going our separate ways in the future, right?

"aether? are you okay?"

"huh? yeah hahah.. i guess this school year will be more different?"

"yeah, i'm so annoyed. we'll just see each other during breaks, lunch and going home. i guess it's a good change.." i guess she was thinking the same.

"a good change..? are you tired of seeing my handsome face or something? heheh " change the subject, i don't want to talk about the future yet.

"blegh. don't get ahead of yourself, you haven't even dated yet."

"excuse you?? we're literally the same."

"hah! atleast i got more gifts from last year's valentines than you."

"i was just lacking one more-! then we would've been the same."

"hey bro.. i just thought of something fun we can do since we aren't classmates anymore.."

"what is it? please don't make it weird."

"a bet. loser gets to—"

"can you tell what the bet is first??"

"heheh of course. since we were talking about us not having a date yet.." this doesn't sound good.

"you're grinning a little to hard, sis. are you confident that you can win??? because don't get it twisted, i'll obviously win."

"sure, dear brother. anyways, let's bet who's going to get a partner first-!"

"what. i said not to make it weird."

"i guess it's kinda weird but come on, it'll make our last year here more exciting. what do you say?"

a partner? this.. doesn't sound like a bad idea. i don't plan to stay single anyway..

"...you're not planning to threaten someone to date you, are you?"

"jeez brother, why would i do that?? i know im competitive but this bet is different."

"huh? so like, a serious but fun bet?"

"yes! we need to actually pull a partner that we genuinely like , not just anyone. sooo, do you have anyone you like?"

"no. wait do you already have someone you like, that'll be unfair."

"hahah, then we're the same! we're twins after all.. but if you said yes, i was actually going point at that girl over there to make it fair.."

lumine glances behind me and there was a lot of students entering the school building.

"the one with the white hair, bangs and high ponytail..? and you just mentioned 'genuine' yet you're picking a random girl."

"woww, you got it right. and i'm sorry hehe, but she's cute, right? she must be new, if she ends up in my class, i'll be so lucky."

"we're starting the bet already??"

"yeah! winner obviously proves they're the prettier twin."

"you already found someone cute, this is kinda unfair."

"bro.. fine, just do what i did then. see anyone that catches your eye?"

i take a look around. boys or girls, i don't care. though i can't believe i'm looking around for someone cute right now. i accidentally make a few eye contacts while i look around but i just continue. new students and a lot of old students who i recognized and a few who i remember confessing to me at the past.

"nah, no luck."

"maybe you won't find them here hahah. let's have a fun year, aether."

"yeah."

i watch lumine enter her classroom and noticed the girl she found cute is sitting in the front row. wow.. look at my sis smiling at me when she noticed. i better get going, i don't want all the back row seats to be taken.

it was a relief when i saw how far our classrooms are. it was just one classroom a part.. heh.. i guess i exaggerated a bit a while back.

"hey, let me goooo. i have to go and sit at the back-!" i heard someone say loudly. she was heading my direction while her friends are jokingly stopping her. i guess we're classmates.

when i noticed that there was one more seat left at the back row, i booked it when i saw the girl behind me.

i sat down quickly. the girl just stood at the door and i could feel her glaring at me. everyone loves the back row. i tried to act casual even though i literally ran to the seat like a weirdo.

she ended up sitting infront of me, yikes... hopefully, she's not mad.

who am i sitting with anyway? huh? it's the guy from the gate.
