BABYSITTING KLEE WITH ALBEDO.

this was going to be a very long day ...

it was around 5pm now, and you had just finished question 105. you arrived here at 10am.
albedo was quite good at looking after children, and the highlight of your day was when you looked up to see both klee and albedo drawing together on the opposite side of the room.

"i hope you don't mind me asking, but would you like to do physical exams soon ? whenever the both of us are free that is."

are your ears failing you or did albedo just say physical exams with an emphasis on the 'physical' part ?

"it all depends on the type of exam i suppose, otherwise, sure. i've finished most of my recent commissions around the city so there's not much for me to do now."

albedo stared at you for a moment before speaking, now realising that what he said would sound .. questionable out of context.

"by physical exams i mean testing your strength and stamina, as well as other things. you seem to outperform some vision users within the knights, and you take on the largest sum of commissions too. i looked at some data recently, and i can say that i understand why jean thinks so highly of you."

if this was a dream, you didn't want to wake up. you had just met this guy properly and agreed to do some strange maths test for him, then out of the blue he starts randomly praising you ?

"i'd also like to get to know you. everyone in mondstadt talks about how reliable and friendly you are."

you honestly didn't know how to respond to anything that he had just said, your brain had fried.

albedo seemed to notice your little brain fart. in response he smiled at you and then continued drawing

it was now 8pm. klee had fallen asleep around 15 minutes ago. albedo moved her over to the couch and wrapped her in a blanket he got out of the nearby drawer. it made sense, he looked after klee quite a bit and acted as an older brother figure for her.

"are you nearly done ?"

"yeah, just a few questions left"

you didn't lie about having only a few questions left, but you were currently stuck on question 144. honestly, you didn't know how long it would take for you to finish as the questions got progressively harder after question 115. it wasn't looking good for you if the rest of the questions were like 144 though.

"alright. call my name if you require my assistance"

albedo was clearly struggling to stay awake. from what you heard, albedo spent days upon days doing research and experiments, probably leaving no time for sleep. you felt bad for him, but you also understood the feeling of being sleep deprived. since you took on tons of commissions a day, you were more than slightly overworked yourself.

you had finally finished the exam ! there were some questions in which you weren't confident in the answers you provided, but there was no way you were going back through to check and recalculate.

you looked up from the desk to tell albedo you had finished, but stopped once you had realised he was asleep
he had fallen asleep at the table, leaning on his arm that was covering the drawing he had worked on pretty much all day.
realising that both albedo and klee were asleep, you suddenly felt 100 times more sleepy than before. yawning quietly and hoping that albedo wouldn't mind if you slept in his office, you leaned over his desk and shut your eyes.

you heard a loud banging at the door. assuming it was albedo or klee, you didn't think much of it and stayed where you were.

"so how did it go ? did they f- OH MY ARCHONS HIIIIII (name) HOW ARE YOUUUU ??"
wait, jean ?
why was she nervous when she saw you ?
and what was she talking about ..?

"um ... where's albedo ?"

"at the .. oh. he's gone."

you took a moment to absorb your surroundings.
albedo had left and klee was gone too. you looked back over to the desk noticing that the test was gone and in its place was a plate of sunshine sprat and fisherman's toast. it was clear that both albedo and klee had made these.

underneath the plates was two pictures, both drawings of you.

klee's version was a mess of colours, trying to portray you, klee and albedo holding hands under a rainbow. this was definitely going on your fridge.
albedos version, however, captured every little detail of you. he had drawn you as you were doing the test, and it felt like you were looking at yourself in third person in some black and white version of teyvat.

you also noticed albedos lab coat draped around your shoulders, but you decided to not think about it that much.

"albedo dropped klee off at my office this morning and then sped off as fast as he could. he said he was going back to work, so i assumed he would be here .." jean stared at the ground in thought while walking over to you. noticing the food, drawings and albedos coat, she giggled a little.

"so that was his plan .."
jean tried to whisper as quietly as possible, which proved to be quite difficult as she was currently leaning over you to get a good look at the drawings.

"i assume you and albedo got along quite well then ? considering the building isn't burning down, klee probably likes you too."

you felt relieved to say the least.
wait.
if klee didn't like you .. would she really burn down the entire knights of favonius hq ?
she's just like her mother if that's the case.

"it's not common for albedo to take a liking to someone so quickly, but i'd expect no less from you, (name). it seems nobody can resist your charm."

".. thanks ?"

"no problem my dearest of dear friends."

you sighed as loud as possible, trying to convey fake annoyance to jean who never really acted cheesy around you unless she wanted you to do something.

"what's the commission for today then ..."

"spend time with albedo of course ! i'll be looking after klee with lisa for a while, so that leaves you two free to become the bestest of friends !"

"sometimes i really don't like you, but then i remember you're my boss .."

"i love you too, (name)."

spending time with albedo .. alone didn't sound so bad. you needed to return his coat anyway.
considering the fact he wasn't in his office, there was only one other place he could be. dragonspine. you hated that place because of how cold it was, but for albedo, it was worth it. he seemed really lonely and if he really did like you as jean suggested, it wouldn't hurt to be friendly with him.

"before we go our separate ways, what did you mean about this 'being albedos plan' ..?"

"oh shi- SUGAR. you heard that ? i'm not really one to expose secrets .. buuut albedo wanted to show his appreciation for you. you work really hard to improve the daily lives of people in mondstadt, and everyone admires you for it. albedo mentioned to me before asking to commission you that he had some form of plan to thank you, but he refused to tell me what it was."

the people in mondstadt, including members of the knights of favonius, tried to paint albedo as an untrustworthy, secretive magic man that was planning sinister things. to you though, he was really kind, gentle and soft spoken. a true gentleman.

you couldn't wait to befriend him.
