You glanced through the glass and made eye contact with one of the Enforcers. Now that the glass wasn't separating you, you heard his next words clearly, "Search them."
You scrambled away from the window as the Enforcers came walking through. You hissed quietly as one turned to you and blocked your vision from the others. Glancing behind you, you realized that your back was almost against the wall.
"Go ahead, idiots. We've got nothing!" Mylo jeered at them. 'I'm going to knock him out one day!' You screamed to yourself. You looked up at the Enforcer and saw your reflection in the green of their visor. You tried to see around them but couldn't as you continued to back up. Suddenly, the lights went out and the blacklight came on. You raced forward and slid between the Enforcer's legs and kicked them out. You heard a satisfying thud, got up and ran towards the exit. You heard Powder scream and watched as Vi grabbed her arm.
You ran through the door and heard the Enforcers' footsteps behind you. Their metal uniform clanging against the concrete brought terror into your mind. Vi stopped and you gasped when you saw the group of Enforcers at the mouth of the alleyway. Turning around, the Enforcers you had knocked over were gaining on you. You panicked and started looking around for a way out when a familiar whistle cut through the air. You whipped around to see Ekko drop a ladder from the top of a balcony.
Vi jumped up and pulled the ladder the rest of the way down before hurriedly climbing up. You swallowed hard as they got closer. There wasn't anything worth taking from you on your person. You glanced behind you to see that Powder just started climbing the ladder. 'I'm not going to make it up in time.' You grit your teeth. You sprinted forward startling the approaching Enforcers and slid between their legs. You heard Vi shout your name and Powder scream but you didn't stop. You heard more shouting and a loud clang behind you but you kept running towards the opening of the alley. You didn't have to glance behind to hear them chasing after you.
The two enforcers at the opening of the alley braced themselves for your approach. You gasped as one lunged at you and you dodged them. The other Enforcer managed to grab your wrist causing you to yell. "Where do you think you're going, rat?!" They threw you to the floor and kicked you in the stomach. You cried out in pain as they aggressively hit you. The metal of their armor makes the hits more painful as two more Enforcers join in.
"Rats like you are the reason Piltovens have to sleep with one eye open!" One of them snarled at you. A sob left your lips as you heard more footsteps. Why were they beating you up when you've done nothing wrong? Did being born a Zaunite automatically make you worthy of this? You curled in on yourself as they kept spitting foul words at you. Enforcers were monsters. They didn't care if you were a child. As long as you were a Zaunite, it made you lesser than them. One of their kicks made contact with your head and you screamed. Through your fingers, you could see their masks blur and morph into something monstrous. They truly were monsters.
A shout caused them to stop and you took that chance to scramble out from under them. You booked it. You ran for your life and snuck through the lanes to catch up to Ekko and your friends. You rounded a corner and you opened your mouth to call out for them when you were hit with another dizzy spell. You stumbled and fell down onto one knee as the world kept turning around you. Your body ached and you were sure there'd be bruises all over you later.
You cried out, clutching your head and curling into yourself. You whimpered, the dizziness overwhelming you as you tried to stand. You heard the sound of boots behind you and panicked, throwing yourself to your feet but stumbling again. 'How did the Enforcers get over here so quickly?!' You sobbed. You didn't want to be beaten again.
"Woah there!" A woman's voice sounded, "You okay there, kid?" Someone's arms slid under your armpits and caught you before you could fall again. Your vision focused and you looked up into Sevika's face. You gave her a relieved, dizzy smile. You saw the worry in her eyes as she held you up.
