After another long night in your lab, you were spent. With Ekko being so close to death just a few days prior, you were working ceaselessly to find a solution to your problem. You squint in the sunlight and sigh when you realize that you have been working longer than you thought. You missed breakfast again. Scar was definitely going to tie you to the bench during lunch to make sure you eat.

You got onto your hoverboard, riding up to the top of the tree, and got comfortable in the branches near your bungalow. You liked to hide away in the tree branches when you needed to think. The little firelights flying around the area would keep you company as you relaxed.

With the warm heat and the cleaner air, you found yourself slowly falling asleep. A soft chirping surprises you awake and you see a little bluebird hopping along the branches. You giggle watching it hop back and forth before it lets out a startled squawk. You gasp as a crystal-like substance rapidly grows from the bottom of its foot and surrounds it. The bird was completely immobilized but you could see that it was alive.

Carefully, you reach out and touch it. The crystal felt smooth yet sticky as you probed it. 'Hm. It's like someone poured syrup on the crystal.' Suddenly, the bird manages to break its beak out. The crystal crumbles away as the bird pecks at it, and once it was free the bird fled from the tree.

You move closer and notice there is a scrape in the branch where the bird had been. In the center of the crumbled crystal, a sap with the same color as it bubbled out. Curiously, you touch it with your finger and squeal in excitement when a thin layer of crystal covers your finger.

"I think I've found the solution to our problems." You breathe out in awe. You scramble up and drop onto the bridge leading to your bungalow. You run inside and looked for something to gather some of the sap to show your brother. You'd be attending a meeting in the Hive after your training session in a few minutes. You grab a glass vial with a small metal spoon and collect some of the sap. You note that it didn't spring up the metal spoon when it came into contact with the sap. It stayed its normal consistency even in the vial. You grin in excitement and store it before heading to your training session.

You dodge Ekko's punch and go in for a strike. He steps out of your arm's range and you pivot on your feet, locking your leg behind his. Ekko grunts and turns to knock you back but he is too slow as you slam him to the ground.

'You're very rough with him. Is this normal for human siblings to do?'

'I can't speak for all human siblings, but it's how my brother and I are. We've been like this for as long as I can remember.'

Ekko gasps for air as he lays there and gives you a thumbs up. You laugh and back away from him as he sits up, "You're doing much better now." He gives you a breathless laugh and stands up. You wipe the sweat from your face and give him a grin. You two trained together in the mornings so you had a feel for the other's movements. Ekko insisted that if you were forced to fight with each other, it would be good to know your fighting styles.

"If me knocking you on your ass wasn't enough of an example, I'll do it again." You chuckle and Ekko pushes you. He sits on the bench and picks up his water. You sit down next to him and look out at the area in front of you. You trained in the amphitheater since it was an open area with enough room to safely fight. There was tiered seating all around a nice, large circular pit. It reminded you of the fighting rings but not as cramped.

"There's no need for that, sis." Ekko sighs and gives you a reminiscent smile. You raise an eyebrow at him, "What? What's with the look?" His smile was infectious as you fought to keep a smile off of your own face.

"I'm just so glad you're back. It feels like a dream. I missed you so much, sis." Ekko's smile got wider. You drape your arm over his shoulder and pull him into a hug, "I missed you, too. I was reliving memories while I was in my coma, and I've missed a lot of time with you." You sigh and look down, "Honestly, watching you leave for missions gives me anxiety. I'm scared that you're not going to come back. I found you the other day right on time. I could have lost you." You shuffle your feet. You always worried about your little brother, but you have been doing so more lately. That's why you had been searching for a way to make missions easier.
