"My child." You looked up in surprise and saw Umbra standing over you with a sharp-toothed smile. She loved to surprise you with her entrances. She had started calling you that after she revealed that she's far older than you. You would always be a child to her.
"Umbra." You acknowledge her.
"It is time." You jumped and whirled around to see your other teacher.
"Iesura. Hello." You squeaked in surprise. He smirked and you and walked over to Umbra, "It is time for you to return to the physical world. You are fully healed and adapted to the crystals now. We will wake you."
Tears immediately formed in your eyes and you quickly got up and pulled them into a hug. You didn't know how long you had been here. All you knew was that it took time for your body to heal and adapt to whatever the crystals were doing. They stiffened at first, before relaxing and returning the hug. In the time you've been stuck here, they mentored you. They told you about the abilities you'd have once your body adjusted and warned you that things about you have changed.
"Now... Wake up, my child. We will speak once you are settled." Umbra whispered as they pulled away. The world around you started to fracture. The blue faded into an inky blackness that made you nervous. You took a deep breath as the floor beneath you shattered and you fell into the darkness.
You felt unusually heavy. Your body felt like it had been strapped down with bricks. Slowly, it started to get better. You could feel your toes, your fingers, even your tongue! Your body felt warm and you felt that you were laying on something unusually soft to be your bed. 'Where am I? What happened?' You thought for a second before everything came flooding back to you. Your heart sped up and you forced yourself to wake up faster. 'Ekko... Please be okay. Please be there.' Your eyelids fluttered as you fought to open them. You saw light behind your eyelids and found that strange. It wasn't the dim glow of a lightbulb that you were used to. Your finger twitched as you tried to move it, and you thought you heard a noise. It was muffled but kept repeating the same rhythm. It felt like forever before you felt a pop and your hearing cleared up.
"...Can you hear me?" Their voice sounded familiar but strange at the same time. Your eyelids stopped fluttering and snapped open, only to close when surprised by a bright light. 'Ouch! Fuck! Who puts a light in your face?!' You hissed in pain.
"She's awake!" You heard someone call out followed by loud shouting. You took a deep breath before opening your eyes again. This time was better. Gold, pinks, and purples danced across your vision as you realized you were staring up into a painting of the sky. You gasped and then coughed when you realized how dry your throat was. Every cough made it burn more and your eyes started to water.
"Here, drink this." A voice said gently as a cup of water was placed in your line of sight. You pushed yourself up and a hand was placed against your back to assist you. You took the cup from them and drank it greedily. It cooled the burning in your throat and you sighed in relief. Once the water was gone, you coughed again and tried to steady yourself.
"T-Thank y-you." Your voice came out rough and sounded strange to your ears. That wasn't your voice, was it? It was deeper than you remembered. You looked to the side and made eye contact with a woman. She had a kind smile and refilled the cup in your hands.
"You're welcome." She said and you realized that she was the one who gave you the water in the first place. She was wearing a uniform that resembled a healer but it looked unique. Movement behind her caught your attention and made your eyes widen as they stilled on a young guy standing close to the woman in front of you. He was staring at you with a stunned expression. His lips were trembling and then you realized that his whole body was. He was the only person in the room other than the healer.
