Bittersweet

"You got it. You have to let me take that back." Caitlyn begs Ekko. 'I'll see what I can do, Umbra. But, don't forget that you still owe me an explanation.'

"What is it?" Vi says forcefully. You can tell she is getting frustrated with feeling outside of the loop. You note that she has the same ticks as when she was younger. 'I will. I'll explain everything.'

"It's a Gemstone. It was stolen during the attack. By your sister." Caitlyn sighs. You curse internally. 'So that's the real reason she's here. If she was investigating the attack, it must've led her to Vi but... how?'

"You just forgot to mention that?" Vi says exasperatedly. Caitlyn doesn't acknowledge her statement and looks back at Ekko, "With this... someone with the right knowledge could build... any Hextech device." You watch as Ekko gives the gemstone a thoughtful look. He glances at you as she continues, "If Enforcers are becoming more... aggressive, that's why."

"We could beat Silco with this." Ekko is looking at you as he said this. You nod.

"That won't solve things." Caitlyn shakes her head.

"Easy for you to say. Your people aren't dying all around you." Ekko scoffs and looks away in anger. Your hand twitches as the memory of your missions pops into your head.

"Ekko, it's wrong what's been done to you. You'd be well within your rights to keep it. I couldn't blame you. But... if you do, this cycle of violence will never stop. This is our best shot at setting the record straight."

"Our?" You laugh bitterly, "So you're finally owning up to your people's mistakes?"

Caitlyn glances at you, "This city needs healing." She turns back to Ekko, "...More than I ever realized. Please, let me help you." Vi's expression shifts into something unreadable and it makes you nervous. 'What's she thinking? I don't think there's ever been a moment where I couldn't read how she is feeling.'

'She may be seeing that human girl in a new light after what she said.'

'Don't be rash, Iesura.'

'What? Wouldn't you fall in love with a beautiful woman that's wanting to help you?'

'ISA!'

"Why?" You snap suddenly filled with anger, "Why should we? You show up with Vi - who we thought was dead - and demand we hand over the one thing Silco is after?!" Caitlyn and Vi look at you in shock but that doesn't deter you, "Stop bullshitting us." You hiss and get into Caitlyn's face, "These are our lanes. You don't get to show up and boss us around without knowing our struggles. You don't know shit about us!" You cross your arms with a glare. Vi is speechless and you can see her wide eyes in your periphery. You are as ruthless as Ekko, if not more so when it comes to protecting the Firelights and those you love. He may be the leader of the Firelights but you are still his older sister. While he trusts Vi, Caitlyn is unknown and he'd only go off of Vi's word for so long.

"My sister's right." Ekko places his hand on your shoulder and you step back. He steps forward but keeps a grip on you for reassurance, "You don't know shit about us. We have no reason to trust you other than Vi's word. And truthfully, I can only go off of that for so long."

"What? Ekko-" Vi is cut off.

"-So, stay. Stay for a few days and see our way of life. Then we can revisit what to do with the gemstone." Ekko places the gemstone back into the holder. You keep your eye on it until it is closed inside. The minor pull you feel towards it fades away.

"But, that's ridiculous!" Caitlyn huffs, "I have to get the gemstone back before things get worse for everyone." You roll your eyes.

You clear your throat and everyone glances at you, "You only get one shot at this. So, what will it be?" You tilt your head, "Stay and possibly leave with the gemstone or leave now without it? You'll never get it back if you leave now." You watch Caitlyn's reaction closely. If she knows what the gemstone is, she wouldn't want to leave it behind.
