"Jackson, do you see the board over there? How many messages did you stick up there for me?"
Jackson didn't know where they were heading...jumping from one random topic to another.
"Three?"
Jinyoung was astonished.
"There were four, Seun."
"How does it matter?"
"It does." Jinyoung scratched his head. "What would you say if I tell you I travelled back in time?"
"You are not making-"
"I know I am not making sense. I know you won't believe me. Jaebeom hyung didn't either."
"You met Jaebeom?"
Jinyoung nodded. "I did. Look Jackson, what I am gonna say may sound crazy but seven months from now Jaebeom and Youngjae will get married. I introduced Youngjae to Jaebeom on one of my fan-sign events and the two of them? They probably fell for each other instantly. I was never even in the picture." His voice grew heavier. Jackson wanted to immediately wrap his hands around the younger but he stopped himself to let him continue. "I tried my best to win him back...but I failed. I couldn't bear to take away Youngjae's happiness for the sake of my own! But on their wedding day?"
"On their wedding day?"
"We fought."
"You and Jaebeom?" Jackson's voice was shaky.
"You and I." A quiver escaped Jinyoung's lips. "We said somethings that we didn't have to and you..."
"And I?"
"You left."
"Jinyoung-ie I-"
"I know it's hard to believe me." Jinyoung chuckled as tears fell off his eyes like a a river. "I sound like mad man. I just woke up and I was here...wherever it is. You, from my time told me that you wished that we never met and I felt like dying which is why couldn't help but tell you that I missed you. So yeah Seun-ah, I may not be the Jinyoung from your time but I am your Jinyoung."
Taking the younger into an embrace, the Chinese buried his head into the former's neck. "I am sorry, Jinyoung."
And just like that, Jinyoung froze.
"I am sorry for not staying with you. I am sorry for wishing to never meet you."
Jinyoung raised his head to look at his bestfriend, who had the redness circling his eyes and he couldn't help but think how he had never really seen Jackson cry at all. Never, except yesterday.
"You believe me?"
"How could I not?" Jackson smiled. "I'll call day a night if you ask me too."
His words clicked something in Jinyoung's heart. He wanted to cry and never stop. He was so overwhelmed. Jackson believed him. He always did, which is maybe why the world around him faded along with Jackson's warmth in a blink of an eye.
***
Jinyoung let out a heavy gasp as his eyes shot open.
Still panting for breath, he tried to assess his surroundings.
He was back. Back in his study just as he left it, dim and gloomy on the wedding night.
What was it? He thought? Was it a dream?
He remembered it way too vividly for it to be just a dream.
Jinyoung stood up straight and reached out to his bulletin only to not find the note he had burned. The candle was still lit with traces of ashes smudged on the floor.
