Jaebeom's gaze oscillated between Jinyoung's plump face and his grip over a bouquet of fresh white lilies that now rested on the top of their table. He couldn't believe the face he always felt a need to look at, at least once a day was before his eyes after four full weeks. To be very honest, he himself didn't know what was waiting for their relationship in future or what outcomes this meeting was supposed to bring into their lives but throughout the time Jaebeom spent away from his boyfriend, he felt at a weird ease.
It's not like Jaebeom hated Jinyoung. In fact, Jaebeom always believed Jinyoung was the one for him which is may be why he even proposed taking a break in the first place- so that the two of them could take sometime to themselves and clear their heads of the clouds. However, he never intended to enjoy the time he was away from Jinyoung.
He didn't know how to tell it to him.
But again, what was the point of leading a life than living it? Jinyoung was a perfect boyfriend. He avoided conflicts, clashes of opinions at all costs. The two of them hardly ever fought, or bickered for the matter. It was as if they had a pre-planned procedure on how they'll deal with a particular problem. It was as if their lives were scheduled. It was as if it was almost mechanical.
Besides, who was Jaebeom kidding? He knew Jinyoung was more in love with the idea of them than Jaebeom himself. He'd be lying if he said he had no clue clue about where Jinyoung's heart always was. He knew him at least this well. He should be given at least this much credit.
However, how would Jinyoung take it all if he decides to end it?
"Lilies?" He found himself asking.
"You like lilies right? Jackson said no one hates flowers."
Jackson. Jaebeom smiled to himself.
Jackson will take care of him well.
"Hyung?"
"Huh?" Jaebeom's gaze flickered and rested back on Jinyoung's face. "Sorry I zoned out."
"Ah, it's alright." He younger said, shaking his head. A ghost of smile, dipped in the essence of uncertainty crept upon his face. "I need to tell you something hyung."
Jinyoung was nervous. Almost hopeful, as if rooting for a positive response from the elder.
Jaebeom gulped. What if he asked him to get back together?
"Ah, sure but should we order something first?" Jinyoung was puzzled. Jaebeom just had a coffee and was not even trying to make an eye contact with him. Jinyoung's stare followed the elder's which was affixed on the television mounted on the wall behind him, with some news channel on without any sound.
'.....at this rate, the country might witness inflation....'
"Hyung?"
"I'm sorry I was reading some headlines. What were you saying?"
'.....Coming up next is from Insadong road accident where......'
"Hyung let's break up."
Jaebeom tore his gaze off the TV to look at Jinyoung. He wanted to ensure if the younger was kidding or not.
"What?"
"Yes." Jinyoung's eyes dropped to his thumbs drawing circles on the back of his hands. "I think...I think this break...it was for good, for both of us. Look hyung, it may sound absurd but no matter what time, what world, what dimension we are in, you and I? We were always destined to grow apart. No matter how hard I tried.....no matter what I did, it always ended up with you and Youngjae and I like an dumbass thought I was too in love with you but-"
