Kakagising lang ni Kate, the sunlight is reflecting through the curtains of her window. Nakahiga parin siya at nakatitig sa ceiling, zoning out early in the morning.
Pumunta siya sa balcony niya to feel the morning air and breathe. After that, bumalik din agad siya sa loob to drink her water and decided to go downstairs.
"Where are they po?" tanong niya, their house helpers are currently cleaning the house.
"Good morning po ma'am, maaga po silang umalis, may pupuntahan daw po." one of their house helpers replied, tumango lang si Kate.
She went to the kitchen right after and made herself a cup of coffee to start her day, kumuha ng libro at highlighter para sa morning routine niyang pagbabasa.
After she had her breakfast, bumalik siya sa kwarto niya para makapagbihis, she will visit her father today.
"Kuya, sa bahay ni daddy.." sabi ni Kate sa driver nila, agad din naman itong sumunod.
Nakapokus ang atensiyon ni Kate sa telepono niya.
"Ma'am, andito na po tayo.." sabi ng driver, she tilted her head at nakarating na nga sila.
"Thank you po, I'll call you if magpapasundo na ako.." Kate replied, she smiled bago lumabas ng kotse.
"Good morning ma'am.." pagbati ng guard kay Kate.
"Missed this house.." Kate thought.
Nasa family house siya, in 52 Forbes Park Mckinley.
The house who witnessed their happiness, sorrow, pain, and laughter.
Hay, those times.
"If only you two stayed on each other's arms, hindi mangyayari lahat ng 'to."
Dahan-dahang binuksan ni Kate ang pintuan, things are still the same. Nothing has changed, portraits and family phtos are still there.
Irene's piano is still the place where it used to be placed.
Every corner in their house has a memory they will never forget.
"Anak.."
Kate quickly wiped her tears and turned back to see her dad.
"Dad.."
Greggy spread his arms as Kate hugged her, "What brings you here?"
"Nothing, I just want to visit you. How are you?" Kate asked as she looked at him and smiled.
"Well, I'm doing good. Ikaw? How's my unica hija?" tanong niya sa anak, he placed his arms on her shoulders.
"I'm good naman.."
Nakatingin na silang dalawa sa family portrait nila, they used to take photos like this, every single year.
"Everything is still in place, noh?" he suddenly spoke, tumingin si Kate sa daddy niya at tumango.
"Yes, I was startled to see that nothing has changed.." Kate commented, he chuckled softly and sighed.
"Because I chose this, I want them to be placed kung saan sila inilagay noon para kapag bumalik kayo dito, maaalala niyo parin ang mga bagay. Every corner of this house has a treasured memory." pagpapaliwanag ni Greggy.
"Do you miss her? them?" Kate asked her dad, she knows that up until now her dad still loves her mom.
"I do, how about you? Do you?" he softly asked his daughter, he knows what happened and he didn't planted any anger or hatred towards Irene.
Kate looked at her dad, "Honestly, I don't know. I mean of course I miss them, I miss them all. But, I don't know if I'm ready to see her again. She looks happy naman na, she don't need my presence anymore, in fact I don't even know if she still care for me, wala naman siyang pakialam sakin.." Kate answered and smile bitterly.
"That's not true, you know that your mom loves you so much, she loves you more than her life, anak. Don't ever doubt your mom's love to you because it's unconditional." Greggy responded, he noticed how unique and endless Irene's love for Kate is.
"You can't blame me dad, she doesn't check on me nga eh. If she's willing to ask for my forgiveness, then she shouldn't left me here, pero sinukuan niya ako." Kate whispered, her tears are already evident.
"If she comes back and make it up to you, would you forgive her?" tanong ni Greggy, niyayakap niya na si Kate.
"Would you?" tanong naman ni Kate sa daddy niya.
"Wala naman siyang nagawang kasalanan sakin eh, the separation was our mutual decision, love." Greggy replied, he smiled weakly.
"I don't believe na you guys fell out of love with each other? Nah! Dad, you two were married for more than two decades and then ganon? That's unreasonable.." Kate stated, nagulat naman si Greggy sa sinabi ng anak, nakalimutan ata neto na malaki na ang anak niya.
"We were blinded with our anger, tiredness and ego, love. It caused us to throw harsh words to each other, I know I should have let us rest first, we should have left those hurtful words unsaid. Words that I know hurt your mom and also where she finds the courage to go on for annulment." Greggy spilled, it made Kate quiet.
"Why do you have to separate when all you needed was to rest, you were both selfish. You didn't think how would we feel." Kate said in her low voice, she kept her head down because she can't fight her tears anymore.
"I-I'm sorry, were sorry if we put you and your brothers in the situation you three doesn't deserve. I can't find the words to comfort you, anak. You know that I'm not good at this." Greggy said as he softly chuckled.
Kate wiped her tears as she sighed, "Now answer my question na, would you still forgive your mom?" he asked.
"You're putting me in a hot seat conversation, daddy." Kate replied, napatawa siya but deep inside hindi niya talaga alam kung anong isasagot niya.
"Daddy, it's easy to say but hard to do so. Hindi ko na alam, maybe there is still a chance. A little chance, I guess." Kate stated and looked at her father who's already looking at her.
"Then, you should approach your mom. I know that she just waits for you." Greggy told her, he planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Why are you so kind? Hindi ka man lang ba nagagalit?" Kate asked as she raised her right eyebrow, she's asking kasi hindi siya kasing bait ng daddy niya.
"Like what I said, walang kasalanan yung mommy mo sa'kin. I don't have a reason para magalit sakanya, she got impregnate by other man ng hindi ko na siya asawa, she didn't cheat nor do anything to me. In fact, she had been a great wife and mother when she still has the chance." pagpapaliwanag ni Greggy, Kate somehow smiled.
If most men are just like her dad.
Gusto nilang magkaayos na si Irene at Kate, pero paano naman mangyayari yun kung malayo sila sa isa't isa.
Kate frowned, "You're the best and you will always be, I hope to find a man like you 'ddy.."
"I love you and I'm so proud of how you become, I'm so proud of you brave lady." Greggy said as he hugged her daughter back.
