The twin boys you had just met freaked out as you started to tear up. You bit your lip and sighed. "Change of plans, may I please work for you in this bakery in return for the desserts."
The two strangers froze before the one who let you in the house started giggling. " At least introduce yourself first." he covered his mouth hiding his amused smile.
Taking a glance at them you noticed they had similar messy brown hair, and both had pretty honey eyes. You smiled at them.
"Sorry, I'm Y/n recently lost in the woods and flat out broke." Honestly, these two were the first you felt incredibly comfortable around at the first meeting. They introduced themselves as 'hansel and Gretel' apparently they have been running this bakery since they were around nine. You were stunned as they told you how the past ten years of running their bakery went since then.
"So you two are nineteen then? Wow- I haven't even started knocking until like ten minutes ago." Of course, you halfway whispered the last part, however, the two seemed to be entertained by what they thought was a joke. You gave them a rundown of your chaotic almost two months now of being here. Upon telling them you have no recollection of your past they seemed shocked.
"Not a thing?" you shook your head." Nope". They looked at each other briefly before excusing themselves to the kitchen to talk something over. You looked around some more, honestly, it might be dumb to suddenly trust two strangers but hell, you've already done that like five times already. What's one more time? After a couple of minutes of waiting and hearing the two whisper, they return with a pastry on a silver tray and slide it to you. It had two mint leaves and a blackberry on top, two blueberries, and some sauce was dripped on the tray with some whipped cream.
"Is this for me?" they nod both looking proud of their creation. "Take this as your acceptance into the bakery staff." Hansel half-whispered before sitting back down as well as his brother. You three talked for a while until you took note of how late it was. Biting your lip you walk towards the door. "Okay, I'll come back in the morning to start. Thanks again!" before they could object, you were out the door. The two just stared until Hansel sighed. "I'll go get them."
You were at the edge of the trees before hearing your name being called. Looking back you see Hansel waving you down. He rushed up to you and put a hand on your shoulder. " where are you planning to go? Didn't you say you were lost out here?" you pause. You looked behind you and went 'oh'.
"Yeah, I figured I'd sleep in a tree." you blurted out. Before you know it you was being dragged back into the house and being lightly scolded. Gretel brought some drinks for all of you and the boys informed you they had a spare room upstairs. You mentally groaned, and here again, you were going to have roommates.
Entering the new unexplored area you almost spin in circles taking it all in. Cute pink curtains with baby blue trimming framed colorful candy glass windows. A twin-sized bed was pressed up against a wall away from the windows and had a dresser by the foot of it. The sheets of the bed were a very light lavender with cookie heart patterns at the edges. The pillows also were pink and blue, there was even a strawberry pillow in the middle of the pile. The dresser was white with pink painted on hearts and swirls, it also had blue handles. In the middle of the room was a soft pink rug.
You skip around the room taking closer looks at the more sweet made looking items. Satisfied you stared back at the closed door. The twins had already left to give you privacy to adjust. Shrugging you flop onto the bed exhausted. 'A fugitive wanted for punching a dick, now hiding in a local enchanted forest bakery. ' smiling at your imaginary headline you drift off, after all, what could happen here that would be so bad you couldn't sleep.
The twins sat downstairs in the bakery. Hansel was leaning back in his chair with a toothpick in his mouth. Gretel was poking at a cake that was oozing dark red filling. Hansel looked up at the ceiling before back at his brother.
"What an interesting character." He mumbled, Gretel, nodded in agreement before putting a piece of cake in his mouth.
"They came just in time, we were running out of our specialty."
The two chuckled barely glancing at the off-limits bakery pantry. Oh, this would be fun for them, they felt it. Gretel sighed, putting down his fork. Hansel looked over and gently smiled at his brother.
"Hey, don't sweat it. They'll work here for a while, until the next season and we'll see how it turns out, okay?" Gretel nodded in response. 'Good' Hansel mumbled to himself before standing up.
"I should make sure that treat kicks in." Hansel waved at his brother before going back upstairs. He walked down to the room he had let their new guest stay in and opened the door. You were fast asleep under the covers. Walking into the room he hummed as he examined the shoes in the corner. Grabbing them he took note of the size and held them in his right hand, taking his left he brushed his thumb over your lips.
Grabbing your hand and placing it so it would lay off the bed he grabbed a syringe from his pocket and extracted some of your 'precious' blood. Applying something to the spot where he inserted the needle he placed your hand back onto the bed and left the room. Going back downstairs he went to a window and threw the things out, being satisfied once they landed into some thorny bushes he went back up into his room.
Taking out pages of paper he started drawing some designs, looking over at the new vile of blood he brought it up to his eyes and swayed it a little. The red liquid swirled before settling down again. Popping the little lid he let a drop fall onto his tongue.
