Fae are very peculiar creatures, and in this world, so are witches. Of course, together, they are arguably even more strange and powerful.
They are often more possessive and mischievous than the ladder. Dimitri falls into this category and then some, gaining the overwhelming curiosity that keeps him stuck in books and scrolls.Or, well, recently, another thing has been keeping his mind occupied. Glaring down at the forest around his home, he locked his fingers behind his back as he tilted his head at the faint lantern glow that trailed through the thick trees. The corners of his lips twitched up upon seeing the dots of lights flail frantically. Prying himself from their spot, he wandered down the hall and glanced up at a family portrait.
A family may be a century before his time, tilting his head, he hummed at the happy picture. He didn't know them personally, just a fragment of the history of the castle and another reminder that one of his greatest curiosities may never be satisfied.
He chuckled at himself. This one curiosity was rather childish. Pulling off his gloves, he flexed his fingers in the moonlight. The protruding clusters reflected with the rest of his contaminated arm. A soft chuckle left their lips as they pulled themselves to a room of the castle. Slipping inside, they approached the sleeping figure. He had no ill intent as of now. They didn't have a reason to do anything. However, Dimitri also wanted to know things nobody should want to know. He blames this more on... dark curiosity side of his fae-like nature. His wanting to know how you'd feel if your cells were ripped apart was again not something he'd act on, but it wouldn't stop him from theorizing.
He almost stepped even closer but froze when you turned, your brows furrowed as if having a tense dream. Sliding onto the bed, he reached his hand out. It barely grazed your shoulder before he felt a zap at his fingers. Blinking, he pulled his touch away, admiring the pulse of electricity bouncing through the crystal." fascinating little rose," his tone was soft as they stood up. With one final glance your way, they left the room.
You were getting tired of that dream girl. Ripping the sheets from your body, you grumbled as you got ready. Time was growing thin until your next adventure and as pleasant as castle life seemed the last time you stayed in one it fell out of the sky and you got separated from the person you are now trying to find. Pausing to think about it you wondered why you were so hooked on finding him anyway, Yes he was the first person you encountered here but you two weren't close- or weren't that close, it felt like a tug at your mind, and for now it was at least a goal. Staring into a mirror, you touch your face and drag your fingers down, watching the way your skin is pulled. None of this felt exactly real, not that you would know too much about what was real. Moving away from your reflection, you left the room and entered the hall, Something sparkly caught your eye, and you smiled at the small form of light that swirled around you. A warming effect accompanied it as it landed on your shoulder with a purr, Patting the peculiar creature you chuckled as a familiar and odd figure ran up to you with an annoyed expression on his face.
"You! You were supposed to be a surprise," Dimitri huffed and pointed at the light that just purred with excitement. You grinned and gently plucked the being from your shoulder and held it in the palms of your hands.
"What is it?" you asked, lifting it to put it in Dimitri's hands. Dimitri hummed his expression softening. He held it in his grasp before looking back up at you.
" A cute little thing, a type of minor fae you can find in the castle gardens, in your greatest time of need or grief they will come to you and envelop you in warmth," Their voice trailed away and you hummed. Tilting your head, you hummed."When did you find them?"
Dimitri blinked... Now that was a very long time ago.
Warmth, the young child hardly understood the concept. Kneeling by the stream, they pooled water into their hands and took a drink. They felt their heart strum in their chest as they kept on alert for any unusual sounds, each chirp from a bird, and every rustle from a leaf didn't escape his racing mind. The muddy snow dug into his knees as he allowed himself another drink. The frigid water stung his throat and made him shiver, but at the end of the day, it was water, water that he desperately needed if he was going to continue the way they were. Hearing a crack from the thick of the trees he bolted up, sliding in the freezing waters. glancing around, they listened for any further movement. white puffs of air circled their mouth as they waited.
everything felt still, even the birds went silent. all they needed to know was where to run. Hearing a snarl from their right, they booked it. ignoring the way his bare feet cut across stone and brush. Howls erupted from behind, and his mind reeled on any further escape points.
As fate would have it, a building emerged into his vision, it's dark shadow felt like a shining ray of hope at the tip of his fingers. That very hope encouraged them through the thorns and overgrown flora surrounding the ruined grounds. The stinging cuts around his body made tears swell in his eyes, but one must push themselves to survive. However, the very idea of survival felt ripped away from them as a force knocked them to the ground. The sound of flesh tearing accompanied the unbearable pain now residing in their shoulder. His focus came and went. Only a soft spark of light kept him conscious. Reaching out for it, he felt...warmth. the next cries that sounded weren't of his own. However, the young creature was exhausted, and all was warm and bright.
So they let themselves dream for the first time in what felt like forever. When he would awake, he would stay in the old ruins of a forgotten castle and turn it into something of a home, and with time comes power, so the young creature would grow and make connections with those who shared power and knowledge. Otherwise, staying in their home performing expeirments and studies on their own time from that unquenchable curiosity.
