Jade McCoy smiled to herself as she pulled her Kia Sentra into her high rise luxury apartment in downtown Houston. Her younger sister, Quinn McCoy, was off finding love on a private island in Spain thanks to her and she was quite proud. Jade had signed Quinn up for a research trial called Experiment #9 that swore to find participants the love of their lives in just three months.
As she rode the elevator to the fifteenth floor, Jade prayed and hoped that her little sister would find true love and happiness. Quinn deserved that after everything they'd been through. Jade opened her door and smiled at her sister's black German shepherd, Havok. He was a big boy with an even bigger heart and he loved Jade something fierce.

"There's my handsome boy!" Jade cooed earning a head tilt. "Boy you know you're a cutie!" She chuckled as she went to grab his leash. The happy pup jumped at the sign of a walk on the horizon. "I know. I know. My energetic baby needs to run it out." She was so thankful her apartment complex came with so many great amenities, including a dog park and walking trail.
The weather was disgusting per usual for Houston in the summer, but Havok seemed happy and that was all that mattered. The walk was nice and she thought it wore him down a little but as they got closer to the dog park Havok began pulling on his leash. She knew he was about to get hit with the zoomies in seconds.
Jade ensured the gate was closed behind her before setting Havok loose. He was off instantly and gained the attention of two huskies, a lab mix and a Doberman. "Your dog looks great." Jade turned to see a tall brunette man smiling at her. "Thank you. He's got high standards when it comes to his grooming routine so I try to keep up."
He laughed at that before looking back at the dogs playing. "Which one is yours?" Jade asked looking at him. "The two huskies. Rogue and Storm." Jade looked at him with a bright smile. "X-Men?" He seemed shocked that she knew before nodding. "His name is Havok. You know, like Cyclops' brother." He laughed once more stunned.
"I've never met another dog named after an X-Men character." She nodded in agreement before turning to look at Havok who was in the process of being pounced on by the huskies. They seemed like fast asses and she didn't want hussies for her sweet angel baby. "We should let those three have play time. Maybe grab drinks or something too."
Jade was oblivious to what he was really implying and didn't even look at him before replying. "Nah. Havok isn't really sociable outside of dog parks. Thanks for the invite though. I'm sure your girls are great." He seemed taken aback, but didn't give up. "Well then, maybe you and I can just go grab drinks and leave our kids with a sitter."
Jade heard his words, but it still didn't compute as she shook her head. "I'm not really much of a drinker unless its girls' night. I get liquor in me and turn into a damn fool. Thanks though." Havok chose this time to run up to her indicating he was ready to leave. She smiled at him before hooking on his leash. "Nice meeting you!" Jade waved before heading out leaving him stumped.
