There sitting in the box was a human heart covered in dried blood. Jade was beyond hysterical. One of the men carried her to the living room while another called Jason and the other called Jenna. Jenna was over in minutes.
"You're okay, Gemstone. You're okay." Jade went in and out of screaming and hyperventilating. Her voice was growing hoarse as the image stayed stuck in her mind. She attempted to pull her hair, but Jenna grabbed hold onto her hands to stop her. "Jade, breathe, babe. It's me. I'm here. You're safe."
Jenna was beyond thankful that she called Elijah on her way over. She told him to bring a sedative that wasn't harmful to the baby just in case and she was glad because her best friend was going to need it.
By the time Jason made it home police cars surrounded his home. He pushed his way through calling out for Jade but Jenna silenced him. "Elijah just got her to go to sleep. Quinn is with Jake. The cops are all in the kitchen." Jason let out a breath before the reality of what happened washed over him.
"Was it actually a heart?" Jenna nodded her head. "Whose?" She shrugged her shoulders as they made it into the kitchen. "Jason, I hate meeting up like this." Jason nodded at the Chief. "Tell me you've got something, Chief. Tell me you're steps closer to finding this asshole."
The Chief sighed causing Jenna to roll her eyes. She was annoyed with everyone. Her father would be inches to figuring something out about the stalker and then he'd vanish. She knew that somehow he was aware of her men and that they were after him. She wasn't sure how he was evading them so well, but he was pissing her and her father off.
"We were stunned to find out what was in the box. We didn't think we'd ever find it." Jason and Jenna looked at him confusedly. "The evidence in the box answered a question from a case we stumbled on when you called in for a wellness check on Elizabeth Holland."
The Chief let out a sigh. "I didn't want to tell you until I got more information, but we found Elizabeth murdered on her kitchen floor." Jenna gasped while Jason was beyond shocked. "The murderer did a number on the body, specifically the face before cutting out her heart. I know for a fact that is whose heart is in that box."
So many things ran through Jason's mind. The lengths that this psycho was willing to go to prove something to Jade. The fact that he had killed in his mind for her benefit was mind boggling. Then there was Jake. Jade was his mother in every way, but Elizabeth was his birth mother and she was brutally murdered.
He couldn't help but think about Jade. She would blame herself somehow. She would feel that his obsession with her led to Elizabeth losing her life and he hated it. He hated that this monster was ruining the joy they'd found.
"We officially have a murderer on our hands and all resources are being poured into this." Jenna sucked her teeth. "That should've been happening from the beginning!" Jenna shouted loudly causing the older man to stand up straighter.
"Was that not the M.O. from jump because Jade is a Black woman? If it was Jason in danger, I bet you fucks would've called in every favor in the world for added assistance. I wonder, are you just now taking this seriously because a precious white woman was murdered?"
Jason pulled Jenna away from the Chief. "Go check on your best friend, Jenna." She looked at him before scoffing and making her way upstairs. "What all is being done, Chief? This is the second time this asshole was able to get something inside my home!" He nodded at him.
We have reached out to the floral shop and no one placed a delivery or order. It seems he swiped the boxes just to look like it came from the florist. The package was dropped off at the gate and the guards said he had on large shades, a cap and a full beard.
