(Amelia's POV)
It has been 6 years since that horrible day, when papa first took me to the lab. I was sitting in my room with my legs crossed as I tried to let the silence soak in, when the sound the door opening broke the once peaceful silence.
"Good morning 002" papa greeted me with a smile that I knew was a facade. "Good morning papa" I greeted back in a monotone voice. "Are you ready for today's lessons?" he asked, a hint of excitement in his voice. "Yes" I said, again in my monotone voice.
He held out his hand, beckoning for me to hold it as we walked down the hallway. It was silent as we walked, but that silence was broken by screaming coming from nearby. "Papa!" someone screamed from a bronze colored door just down the hallway. I was a bit confused, by that time I had never heard any other child's voice other than 001's voice, which I've only heard once before.
I stared at the door, confused, and looked up at papa expecting for him to explain who was screaming; but he didn't. It was as if he was simply ignoring the screaming child, or he just didn't hear them, but I knew he could. He led me to a room where he instructed me to stand in, as I walked in he closed the door behind me. In the room, sat a table with a cage in the middle, and in this cage held an animal. It was making these hissing sounds directed towards me, making me feel uneasy.
"002, you know what to do" I heard papa say through the speaker on the top corner on the wall. I knew what he wanted me to do; he wanted to to kill it. I hated killing things. Even if I had done it before, I still hated it. Papa knew this, yet he still made me do it. I had only did it twice before, once with my family, and the other time was with a guard that had angered me, so I threw him through the glass during one of the lessons I had a while back.
I stared at the hissing animal in the cage as I concentrated my energy in my hand, holding it up to face the animal. I felt my eyes and hand start to heat up as the animal started to hiss louder. I started to close my fist as the animal made sounds as if it was in pain; I then closed my fist all the way and it made a disgusting pop sound. Blood painted the surroundings, some even got on my gown and even on my face a bit. I wiped the blood off of my face as I turned to look at papa; a look of satisfaction consumed his face as he instructed one two of the guards to lead my back to my room.
As we walked through the hallway, I heard faint crying and whimpering sounds coming from the bronze door I had seen earlier. Curiosity had taken over my body as I stopped walking towards my room, and started walking towards the door. The guards tried to grab my arms but I just flung them into the walls; I was now focused on getting to the door. If papa wouldn't tell me who or what it was, I would just find out myself. I forced the door open and looked inside; there sat a young girl, huddled up in a corner crying. She looked to be a bit younger than me; I was now super confused. 'Who is this' I thought while looking at the girl in confusion.
She looked at me in what looked like a mixture of shock, confusion, and a bit of fear. I then heard rushed footsteps next to me as I felt a hand harshly grab my arm. I was about to force them away, but I realized who it was...
papa...
He gave me a look that could only be described as pure anger as he yelled at the guards behind him to bring me to my room. I looked at him with fear; 'I messed up' I thought. I had just pleased him enough for hi to trust me to go back to my room, and I had just broken that trust by disobeying him. Two guards came up to us and grabbed both my arms, dragging me to my room. "Wait! Papa!" I yelled in an attempt to apologize for my actions, but he just gave me a disapproving stare as I was dragged to my room.
When we got to my room and they opened the doors, the guards practically threw me onto the ground, shutting the door behind me and locking it. I immediately got up and ran to the door, slamming my palms against it in an attempt to draw attention to me.
"Papa!" I continuously yelled, but just like all of the other times I tried yelling, nothing.
I walked over to my bed, laid down and cried myself to sleep.
The next morning, i was woken up to the sound of my door opening. My eyes shot open as my body jolted to sit up, looking at the door in absolute terror. Papa stood in the doorway with a neutral expression on his face. He then walked in, closing the door behind him, and walked over to sit next to me on my bed. I looked at him in a mixture of fear and confusion ad he took a moment to speak.
"What you did yesterday was unacceptable 002" he stated in a disapproving tone. I looked down, guilt washing over me as I realized that it hurt him that I broke the trust he had for me.
"Didn't mean to.." I apologized to him as I remembered how proud he looked when I killed the animal the day prior. "I understand though, you where curious, but you shouldn't have acted out of line" He said, I looked up at him with a confused look on my face. "You've been doing so good so far, and ever since 001... it's understandable you'd want to see other children" he said, looking over at me with a look of fake sympathy that I almost believed.
I looked at him as the guilt that once plagued me started to fade, and relief started to overcome me. 'He wasn't taking me to the room' I thought, relieved.
"But the way you handled it, was unnecessary, you didn't need to hurt them." he stated.
"I'm going to let you take today to think back on what you did, and to think of better ways you could have handled it. We wouldn't want this repeating itself now would we?" he asked with a smile that almost looked genuine.
"Yes papa" I agreed with him in a monotone voice laced with relief. He gave me one final smile before walking out, leaving me to my thoughts.
That was the first and last time I had ever seen him act that way.
