stubbornness - j.q

Start from the beginning

Joseph stared at you stunned. he thought you'd react completely differently. you felt a sharp pain in your lower stomach and winced slightly as you grabbed it, great, another pain. he watched you as you winced, his angry demeanour changing slightly as he saw your face twist in pain. "hey, you okay?" he said, his anger now replaced with anxiety and patience as he awaited your answer. "i'm fine, just go Joseph. give yourself some time to breathe and get away from my clingy-ness" you quoted him as you turned and walked away to the kitchen. how could he go from being so cruel to so caring?

you didn't want to let him know that that pain hurt the most. it was intense and lasted a lot longer than the other pains you were having. Joseph watched as you walked away, feeling guilty for calling you clingy but nevertheless he left the house, guilt eating him alive as he thought of what he said. you weren't clingy, you weren't annoying and he hated himself for saying that to you. he got into his car and started driving to absolutely no where. he didn't want to drive to far away from the house just in case you would call him. he knew you wouldn't. you were way to stubborn and after seeing your reaction to him he knew he would get the silent treatment for a while.

when you reacted calmly it allowed your anger to build up inside of you as you didn't let out everything you wanted to say and this made you keep yourself to yourself until you were ready to let out your frustrations. you'd been doing it ever since you were a teenager when you'd have an argument with your friends or family and you had just kept that same trait, you were very very stubborn and you wouldn't deny it if someone called you it because you were.

you were in the kitchen hunched over the island as contractions came every 3 minutes. this was it. your baby was going to come and you needed to get to the hospital. you stood up straight up off the island and walked to the living room where your phone was. you didn't want to call Joseph, he was rude and called you clingy and he needed 'space to breathe' as he said earlier so instead you called your best friend. the only person you believed you could talk to. as you were walking your water broke all over the floor, leaving your shorts soaking wet. you knew once you'd checked the bags you'd have to change.

"Amy, do you think you could meet me at the labour ward please?" you said, waiting to hear her response. there was a loud gasp before a loud squeal before she spoke up. "now? the baby's coming right now?" she said, happiness laced in her tone. you laughed before another contraction hit, making you hiss in pain. Amy had been your best friend since year 7 and he was the most excited to meet your baby when you told her you were pregnant so this reaction didn't surprise you.

"yeah the baby's coming now, i'll meet you there and tell you which room i'm in" you said. she said she would meet you there and once you knew you had everything you walked away and there on some of Joseph's joggers which you found in the laundry room which wasn't to far away from the front door. then you walked back to the front door and slipped on some sliders as you couldn't put on trainers and made sure you had the suitcase and your bag then picked up the bag from the floor, bending down as low as you can before wheeling the suitcase to the car and then opened the boot. you struggled to get the bags in the boot of the car and after a five minute struggle and a few contractions later, you finally got the bags in the car.

you drove yourself to the hospital, contractions coming closer together as you drove. you finally arrived at the hospital where you were taken to the labour ward almost immediately. they put you in a room and checked how dilated you were and as you were getting checked, Amy came bursting through the door with a wide smile on her face. her face changed when she saw the midwife with her hand under the blanket as she checked your cervix which made you giggle before wincing as another contraction came. you had a baby monitor on your stomach which was monitoring your contractions and the baby's heart rate and Amy watched as the painful contraction surged through your body on the machine.
