''Grace, come on now, wake up sleepyhead.''

''Grace, remember me.''

The girl woke up in her hammock after a small nap, a small gasp leaving her lips as she tested out the name. ''Grace?'' She chuckled, remembering her own name. ''I'm Grace... ''

A new boy walked up to her, ending next to her hammock. "Hey, you're up already," he said with a smile, his voice thick with a British accent. He was tall, with tousled blonde hair that looked like it hadn't seen a comb in a while. His eyes, though, were bright and curious, as if he was studying her, waiting for her response.

''Alby and Nick asked me to get you up.''

His words floated in the air, the names sinking into her memory. They were the ones who had helped her earlier... right? She nodded, the slight confusion lingering in her thoughts.

The boy extended his hand toward her, his smile widening. "I'm Newt."

She looked at his hand for a moment before reaching out to shake it. Newt. His name echoed in her mind, another piece clicking into place. It wasn't the same as remembering her own name, but it felt like a step toward making sense of everything.

"Grace," she said, her voice stronger now, more certain as she met his eyes.

"You remember already? That was quick." Newt's tone was light, but there was something warm in the way he spoke to her, like he genuinely wanted to make her feel at ease.

She gave a small shrug, feeling the pull of her own thoughts. "Well, it'll be easier to introduce you to everyone at the bonfire," Newt continued, his hand still extended to her.

"Bonfire?" Grace repeated, furrowing her brow in confusion.

Newt nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, it's like a... tradition here. We all gather at the bonfire every night to unwind and talk. It's the best time to get to know everyone. Trust me, it'll help you understand this place a little better."

Grace hesitated for a moment. The idea of gathering with a bunch of strangers—boys who had all been here for over a year—made her feel uneasy. It wasn't the gathering itself that bothered her, but the idea of being the only girl. Of being the odd one out.

But the thought of not knowing anything—of not even remembering her own life before this—was even more terrifying. She needed answers. And the bonfire, whatever it was, seemed like the best place to get them.

She stood slowly, Newt helping her to her feet as her legs felt like jelly. The air around her was thick with the heat of the day, and her mind swirled with too many thoughts to make sense of.

"Alright, lead the way," she said, trying to sound confident, even though she wasn't sure if she was fooling herself.

Newt smiled at her, his eyes twinkling with what almost seemed like relief. "Follow me."
