Four days later.
I had barely seen Rafael the past few days. Everyone in the house was so busy but he was like a ghost. I'd feel his arm on me during the night and when I woke up, he was gone. I didn't see him through the day, nor did I get a text, or a call because he was busy sorting out every problem in the world alone.
I rubbed my face, groaning as tiredness sunk into my bones but I was not going to go to sleep until he came home. I had come home from work two hours ago and he still wasn't home but I was going to wait for him.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, I ran my fingers through my hair. I had vomited twice today but I wished the nausea would leave me. It was terrible.
The door opened slowly and he walked inside, throwing his black tie onto the ground, lost in his own thoughts as he closed the door. I watched him in silence as he walked towards the bathroom, unaware I was waiting.
Something was wrong.
I followed him into the bathroom as he splashed his face with water, leaning on the sink. "Is everything okay?"I asked softly, wrapping my arms around him from behind. His stiff body seemed to relax as I held him.
He was quiet for the first few minutes but he turned around in my arms, and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, holding me close to him. "Just a shit few days, baby." He rested his chin on top of my head, sighing. "Mom kept calling me." He mumbled and I pulled back a little. He pushed his hands through my head, pressing his fingers gently on my scalp, massaging my head.
I unbuttoned his first button. "Why?"
"Dad has been freaking out apparently." He continued running his hands through my hair as I unbuttoned his shirt slowly. "Mom says he thinks I'm marrying you and that's making him lose his mind." I pushed the shirt off his body before reaching down to his belt and he nodded his head as I looked at him.
"You would need to get married to gain everything." I said quietly as I unbuckled his belt, pulling it out and dropping it onto the floor besides his shirt.
Marriage. I had already failed one and Rafael would need to get married. He would need to marry someone to get everything he had worked for.
Rafael placed his fingers under my chin, tilting my head up as I loosened his pants. "I'm not marrying anyone, baby." He pressed his forehead against mine, closing his eyes as he let out a breath.
He was exhausted, his whole body was tired and there was no way out for him. "I'm losing too many guys."
"Why?"
"Dad's fucking them off. He has this little group of trusted people, fuck they've all raised me but they work for him, and they're ten steps ahead of anything I do." He sighed, pulling back and taking his pants off, leaving him in his boxers. "The protection group is all over the place. I have no idea how the no hit list got ripped into shreds. It no longer exists so it's like a war zone out there." He dragged his hands down his face, groaning. "It's taken me four fucking days to get it back under control."
"How did you do that?" I brushed my fingers on his chest slowly. Rafael loved to be touched, he needed to be touched. It was his reassurance, his way of knowing he wasn't alone.
He looked at me as he lowered his hands. "I've personally sat every morning and day, writing it out again and I've backed it up because that's the most important thing. They know if they hurt anyone in that list, I'll personally enjoy torturing them. The fights have stopped-''He tugged on my top and I couldn't help but blush as he lifted it off my body. He let out a sigh of relief, his hands cupping my breasts since I wore no bra. "I'm just stressed, baby, because there's five hundred meetings lined up and I don't have the mindset for it."
