Strung together

After breakfast had ended the group of clone troopers and Iris parted ways, saying goodbye and hoping to see eachother at lunch again Iris skipped away with happiness in her mind, she didn't notice her surroundings. Nor the fact her red string had finally acted up, and was pulling her straight to someone.

It was only when she straight up crashed against someone that she finally noticed the red string had been tugging on her hand this entire time. And she finally saw who it was on the other end.

Following the sight of the red string tightly wrapped around her pinky she followed it as it made a tight, straight line towards a slightly caramel skinned hand, following the arm up and finally seeing who it was she crashed to the floor she gasped.

Holy shit,

Its Captain Rex??? What-

Panicking on the inside she held in her breath and held out her other hand, the one without a red string, "I-uh- sorry about that! I wasn't quite looking where I uh-" Rex didn't look at the outstretched hand, but was fixated with a slightly agape mouth at the red string around Irises finger she desperately tried to hide behind her back.

Anxiety finally hit Iris as she didn't get a response from him and hid both of her hands behind her back. Opening her mouth to say something- anything, Rex finally spoke up. "You- You're real." Iris looked him in the eyes, not expecting that answer.

Her reaction time must have been horrible, because when she blinked Rex had stood up and had her red stringed arm in his hands. The string was pulling on both of them, desperately trying to make them hold hands which Iris wasn't too sure she was emotionally prepared for.

Rex looked at her hand, and noticed some blue markings on them, he pushed the fabric up slightly of her arm and gasped, "Those are-" not finishing his sentence he looked Iris dead in the eyes and said seriously, "Do you like anatomy and plants?" Iris blinked and could only nod as he took the sleeve of his red stringed arm and pushed up his blacks, revealing Anatomical drawings of humans, animals. And in detailed botanical drawings of her favourite plants including the Mimosa pudica.

Iris only stared as she admired the detailed sketches and drawings of her favorite creatures and plants. "C-can you see them?-" Rex asked anxiously, Iris nodded. "H-ah- I thought I was going crazy, none else sees them!- but you, you can see them!"

His excitement that he wasn't going mental was nice, but Iris felt her emotions get the better of her, she was so scared of messing up.

He was her first fictional crush, and here he stood, in the flesh fangirling over- well not her, but something related to her being. It heavily conflicted with her brain, how she had been raised.

None admired her, never.

And yet here-

here he was.

"I- I have to tell General Skywalker! About the markings and!-" He looked at the string that was connecting the two of them, not looking at Iris, and she felt the urge to run away take over.

And so she did, out of fear and anxiety she ran, harder than she had ever ran in her entire life. From the person she loved, and feared the most.

"No! Wait!" She heard him call behind her and fast footsteps could be heard quickly chasing her. Adrenaline started to race through her system and she felt her muscles tense at how fast she was going. She never did professional sports, but she gained a lot of her muscles from her family tree.

She wasn't quite as fast as she hoped, but a single buzzy hallway could perfectly hide her. And so with heaving chest and racing thoughts she vaulted over an empty medical bed and sprinted inside of a group of people, ducked, and made a sharp turn towards the left. And hid in the corner

She hoped Rex didn't find her, what if he did? What would she even say? How was she gonna fix this?

Holding in a sob she heard frantic running through the group she had just passed, "Where-?" She heard him, just barely over the sounds of talking nurses and patient's and she felt her red string tug on her when she thought of him.

She took that as her que to run, quietly this time back from where she came. Moving quickly past the hallways she just ran through, hoping that wherever she was going was the right way for her room she was staying at. The bright white walls and hallways were almost blinding her with how overwhelmed she felt.

When Iris finally reached her room her entire body was practically a tight knot of anxiety as her drumming heart raced in her chest. Giving a slight comforting thum of adrenaline through her system. She couldn't help it but think of him, how happy he was when he saw that she wasn't imaginary, that she was tied to him in some force-ish situation which didn't make him crazy.

He probably just wants you so he can get rid of the thread.

And there is the anxiety.

Deciding that was enough thinking for one day Iris hoisted herself into her hospital bed and hid under the covers, as if it would keep the nightmareish thoughts away along with all the trouble she has caused. She was gonna deal with it tomorrow.

The blanket was light on her form, the mattress soft and making her practically sink into the soft tissue. Iris wished she had her stuffed toy shark to keep her company in these dark times.

She was gonna have to ask if there was any wool or fabric she could have to make her favorite toy out of.
