When you Uber pulls up in front of you, you dust yourself off and walk toward the back passenger seat.
"Hello," you say politely as you step inside. "Ride for Y/N?" But just as you look up at the driver, your heart nearly stops. Too preoccupied with your own drama, you had hardly even noticed just who your driver was.
It's him, you think to yourself, the guy from the beach. What was his name again?
"Hey, we've met before, haven't we," he smiles softly. "Have you been in my Uber before?"
"Yeah. From the beach a few weeks back. What're you doing up here?" you then ask him.
"I could ask you the same," he chuckles. "I Uber so I travel a bit for work, but I'm from around here, actually. How about you?"
"I'm from around here, too. What a coincidence," you smile.
"Coincidence? Hm, I don't really believe in that sort of thing, but I suppose," he winks at you from the rearview mirror. "So, where are we heading?"
"Home," you tell him. "I've had a long night."
"Really, 'cause I was going to suggest you look as though you could use another drink. But, I can't really take you there unless you cancel your Uber," he hums. "What do you say?"
Well, judging by how your night has played out so far, you can't say if you'll ever see Hinata again. And for that, you unlock your phone and click on the ride you called. Adam. That was his name.
"Just canceled it," you smile up at him.
"Then what're you still sittin' back there for? Come on up," he says as he reaches over and unlocks the front passenger door.
After you unbuckle your seatbelt, you step out and back into the seat beside him. "Where to?" you then ask.
"There's a bar not five minutes from here. Let's start there," he says as he shifts the car to drive. "Ready?"
"Ready."
Just as he had told you, the bar is a mere five-minute drive from the wedding venue. The two of you walk inside side-by-side and enjoy a few drinks together. Though you don't exactly realize how much you've had to drink until you're laughing at every little thing including the hiccups that come out of your mouth every ten seconds.
"I'm really glad I, hic, ran into you tonight. I didn't think I'd see you again after that, hic, other night," you smile as you place your hand on his shoulder.
Adam nods as he places his large hand on your thigh. Only now do you realize his serious resting face and sharp eyes which, on some occasions, can be easily intimidating.
"Me too," he grins. "You know, even though we've only met twice, I feel like I've known you for a long time."
"Really, hic, me too," you sigh naïvely as you eye his slicked-back black hair that's cut short on either side. It almost looks as though he had just got a haircut that day. Was he this handsome the last time you saw him? Or were you just blind to the way he looked because of your feelings toward Hinata?
"You drive me insane. I don't know what you're doing to me, but I feel like you've hypnotized me somehow," he whispers softly as his other hand reaches to the side of your face.
When he kisses you, your feet nearly lift off the ground. Despite what he said about you hypnotizing him, you think it might just be the other way around.
Right now you feel like a whole other person. It's quite possible you'd do anything he asks you to right now.
"Y/N, can I ask you something?" he hums softly as he pulls away from your lips. Your eyes gaze into his, curious as to what he wants to say.
"Of course," you smile innocently. "Anything."
"I've never been the kind of guy to commit to someone so fast but when I'm with you, I don't know, I just feel like you're the one. I know I said I don't believe in coincidences or fate, but I can't shake the feeling that we're meant for each other," he begins to ramble, equally as drunk as you are.
You giggle when you hear his sincerity. It's rather cute how he's bearing himself to you. "Is that what you wanted to ask me? It isn't much of a question."
"No," he shakes his head as he brings his hands to yours, intertwining them gently in a way that has you at a loss of breath. "I wanted to ask... Will you marry me?"
"What?!" you gasp, completely taken aback. "What are you talking about?"
"I'm sorry," he shakes his head as he lets go of your hands. "I shouldn't have come on so strong like that. Please forgive me."
"Adam," you smile as you think about all the times your mother has asked you to get married. Perhaps if you just get it over with and marry some cute guy who you do have an attraction to, then it wouldn't be so bad. "I accept. Let's do it."
"Are you serious?" he asks as his dark eyes widen toward you. "'Cause I know where we can go right now, if you want."
"I want," you nod. "Yes, let's do it," you tell him as you grab onto his hands just as he had to yours only a minute ago.
When Adam kisses you, a smile blossoms across your lips. "Come on, then," he whispers, "let's get out of here."
You follow him out of the bar, nearly running back to the car. When you get in foolishly, the two of you drive off into the night until he pulls into a drive-through wedding chapel.
Adam parks the car and unbuckles his seatbelt quickly before rushing to your side and opening the door for you.
"Thank you," you laugh as he holds out his hand to help you stand.
As you and Adam walk toward the drive-thru window, you hear your phone in your pocket buzz. Someone's trying to call you, and in that moment, for a mere second, you remember that you were supposed to send Hinata an "I got home safe" text.
But when Adam calls your name and brings you back into the moment with him, you completely forget all about Hinata once more.
