It Started on Lazy Day

PoV: Tails

  My field trip was so fun. I even got to see real demonstrations of all the inventions we got to visit. It was outstanding. Sonic turned out to be right like always. I was cold and wore my jacket the whole time. I drank all of my water and ate every single thing he packed for me for lunch, breakfast, and snacks. I bought him a Souvenir with the rings he gave me.

"Sonic I'm home!" I opened the door but he wasn't in the living room, "That's weird, he always spends  lazy days on the couch."

  I smelt another scent in the house. An alpha who was on the brink of heat. Isn't this... The Jerk!

  I ran upstairs and checked Sonic's room, nothing. But the Alpha's scent was here too. I could even smell he was in my room. Did he break in to find Sonic!? What if he took Sonic again?

"Sonic, hello?" I heard someone downstairs. I ran down and found Ray. He had a bag with him.

"Ray!" I ran down and grabbed his hand, "I can't find Sonic."

"What?! What do you mean you can't find him-?"

  It was muffled but we both heard voices in the house. I ran upstairs as soon as I recognized the sound of water splashing in the tub.

"Ray the bathroom!" I opened the door and... he was right there. Sonic was trapped in his arms, crying, and not moving.

"Sonic..." Why? Why is he hurting Sonic... "What did you do to him!"

"Oh, crap..." Shadow wasn't letting Sonic go.

"Shadow..." Ray caught up with us and froze, "You sick pervert... Knuckles!"

"That's not what this is! Hey!" Shadow shouted, but Sonic still hadn't moved. He's hurt. This jerk he must have done something.

"You... I knew you were still just a jerk, even after Sonic gave you pizza..." I needed to get him away from Sonic now.

"I told you, that isn't what this is. I don't want to fight a little kid."

"You... Get Away from my mom!!" I ran up and pushed him away.

"Oi! You're gonna hurt yourself!" Shadow grabbed me, I tried breaking myself free. He still had Sonic in his other arm.

"Shadow you bastard!" Knuckles came in. He pulled me from Shadow's arms and grabbed Shadow by the collar of his shirt.

"You're gonna make me drop Sonic! Let go," Shadow was holding Sonic with both arms now, "He's burning up again."

"You expect me to believe a thing you say after all the shit you've pulled?" They were fighting, but it felt different from usual. Knuckles was tense, and there was a sweet smell all over the house.

"... It's... hot..." I heard Sonic whimper under the sound of fighting above. His face was all red... Shadow was wearing a mask...

"Knuckles! Cover your nose!" I reached up and used a towel to cover his nose.

"Tails what the hell?!" He put me down and I tried to grab Sonic.

"I'll take Sonic," Ray took Sonic from Shadow, putting him back in the tub, "Both of you need to go to the backyard, now. Sonic is in heat, you're both getting way too aggressive with each other. Go fight outside!"

"He's in heat..." Knuckles backed down.

"I was trying to tell you," Shadow handed a mask to Knuckles, "Sonic gets too hot, so a cold bath keeps him lucid. He'll overheat otherwise."

"You're still not touching him," Knuckles growled, "You'll try claiming him."

"Idiot, I don't wanna claim him! I was taking care of him fine before you all jumped to conclusions," Shadow wasn't leaving, but neither was Knuckles.

"Well you certainly act protective for someone who isn't interested in an omega," Ray got up a grabbed them both, "Tails, make sure Sonic rests. I've got to handle these two myself."

"I'll guard him with my life!" I locked the door behind them, just in case. I opened the bathroom window into the backyard to listen.

"Mm..." Sonic was still warm when he opened his eyes. He looked up at me for a while... "You look like my little brother..." he smiled before drafting off again, "... but... he's on a field trip... ... having... lots... of... ... ...fun..."

"I am your brother," I held his hand, "But... I guess I did call you mom all of a sudden. I've actually wanted to call you Mom for a while... but you hate being an omega so... I thought you'd hate it. Just forget I said it, okay?"

"Mmhmm..." he was still hazy, I didn't think he'd even remember anything from today.

  Shadow was taking care of you... Why?

PoV: Shadow

  It took some time being outside before my head cleared. Knuckles smelt Sonic's heat the moment he walked in the house. According to Ray, he bolted upstairs to grab Sonic before he even got to explain what had happened.

"Why were you with Sonic in the tub?" Knuckles growled from across the yard.

"I told you already. I came by to pick up my lunch and he fainted in my arms. He was in heat and I was already late so I skipped to help him out. Keeping him in the bath was my best option," I've explained for the tenth time by now.

"Why are you still bothering him? The whole school found out he's an omega, there's no more need for you to treat him like an errand boy anymore," Knuckles was still aggressive, but he finally stopped snarling at me like a wild animal.

"I like his food. I've offered to start paying him for meals. He agrees on his own terms. He told me yes this morning, I have the message on my phone for proof," I stood up and dusted myself off, "I offered to stay today since he became so helpless, but seeing as there's a beta here now, we aren't needed. Knuckles, it's dangerous for us to linger around this house."

"I'm not leaving until you go," Knuckles growled.

  I wanted to go, however... Something about leaving now felt uneasy.

"... I don't wanna..." I heard Sonic's voice in the distance. It was coming from the bathroom window above us.

"Tails, what's going on?" Ray had grabbed Knuckles wrist just as he tried to get up.

"I set up a fan in Sonic's room. He said he was tired so I'm taking him to bed," Tails poked his head out the window, "I think it would be best if Shadow and Knuckles left. Ray, could you stay the night?"

"Yeah, I've actually had a spare set of clothes stashed away in case something like this happened. I'll be up there to help once I get these guys to leave," Ray called back to the kid before he left. The yellow squirrel turned back to the two of us, "You heard him. It's time for you both to leave for Sonic's sake. No visitors until his heat is over."

"Tsk."

"Fine, but only because Tails said so," Knuckles walked by and grabbed my wrist.

"Hands off!" I pulled away but this guy's grip was insane. He easily lifted me as I held Sonic early. I'd rather avoid a punch from this guy.

"We're both leaving," he wasn't going to let go until I left.

"Fine, I'll leave," I felt irritated even when he let my hand go. I paused as we passed Ray, "Ray."

"What is it?" He looked anxious. As a small beta getting in between two powerful alphas, of course, he'd be anxious.

"There's a bin in the living room. Please keep Tails away from it and give it to Sonic," I left with Knuckles glaring at me.

"A bin?"

  At least Ray is here. That idiot omega better learn his fucking lesson this time. How the hell is he supposed to take care of himself and Tails all alone?
