PoV: 3rd Person
It had been 2 weeks since the 2 alphas started working on getting along for their omega. Shadow had stopped being so aggressive now that Sonic allowed him to be close by. Infinite didn't allow Shadow to intimidate him anymore. It helped that both were the quiet type, and Sonic was talkative. They both enjoyed listening to Sonic, offering comments on occasion while the omega talked and talked.
Infinite often brought a picnic blanket to school for them to sit in the grass in their usual spot. Shadow offered to get a bigger one, Sonic perked up and decided they should go shopping and pick one out together. Both Alphas quickly agreed, eager to spend more time with the blue hedgehog. So now, they had a date.
"The mall is... very busy," Infinite fiddled with the hem of his sleeve as they approached the doors.
"Is it too much? We could go somewhere else," Sonic offered.
"Here," Shadow handed a box to Infinite, "It's an overstimulating location. Those should help."
"Shadow... This is-" Infinite opened the box, his eyes wide in surprise.
"It's fine. I bought them for you specifically," Shadow looked away.
"Thank you," Infinite pulled out the medium-sized noise-reducing loop plugs. They were designed to hook around the back of mobian ears to hold their place.
"I didn't want our date locations to be so limited. We can get whatever accommodations you need," Shadow replied. He startled a bit when Sonic grabbed his hand, the usual bright smile on his face, "What?"
"I'm proud of you two," Sonic grinned brighter as Infinite held his hand, "Infinite, can you still hear us with those in, or do we need hand signals?"
"I can hear you just fine, the background noise isn't as overwhelming now," Infinite replied.
"That's great cause, I wanted to surprise you guys with a longer date. After we pick a blanket would could watch a movie and get lunch somewhere," Sonic lead them through the mall which was noisy as usual on weekends, "Since you guys haven't fought at all in the last two weeks, I felt like we should celebrate a little."
"As if I would disagree to a longer date with my mate," Shadow squeezed Sonic's hand lightly.
"I'm happy to spend more time together," Infinite spoke up, also giving Sonic a light squeeze.
"Then let's get the blanket so we can make it to the next show," Sonic cheered.
They looked at different blankets in department stores and found one Sonic determined to be perfect. It folded into a bag for easy storage and travel. One side was a tarp, while the other was a blanket. They could use it even if the grass was wet. It was big enough that the three of them could lie down comfortably along with their bags. They just had to decide on the color, which wasn't much of a question. Shadow had red highlights, Infinite would sometimes wear a red scarf, and Sonic always wore his red sneakers. They, of course, picked the red checkered blanket. They stopped again as Sonic got distracted by the baskets.
"Do you want one?" Shadow asked.
"Maybe. But I already have the large bento box, so I'm not sure if I'd use it. Honestly, it doesn't seem big enough to hold food for everyone," Sonic glanced at the larger basket at the bottom and grimaced at the price.
"I think those are plenty for the three of us. And even for Tails," Infinite replied.
"Ah, I mean us four, and Amy, Knuckles, Silver, Blaze, and Ray. We would hang out maybe once or twice a month, usually at my place or Amy's, since we're the only two who can cook. I eventually want to hang out with everyone again. It's been a while," Sonic rambled a little before feeling a little guilty. He'd left his friends behind ever since he'd been moved to the omega class.
