A New Scent (Edward Cullen x reader)

Edwards Pov

It's Wednesday morning now. I want to know what she's thinking. Sadly I can't do that however because she is Bella's twin. All of our abilities work the same way on her as they did on Bella. Luckily, it doesn't seem like she hangs out with any dogs because Alice has always been able to see her future, which wouldn't be the case if she was around anyone like Jacob.

I can't believe I just said his name. The man who let my Bella die. Well you know what? He's not going to come within an inch of her twin sister or else I'll... woah how am I so overprotective over a girl I don't even know the name of yet? I know she's Bella's twin and has an attractive scent but wow that was a little fast. I guess when you don't sleep you have a lot more time to think about these things which is probably why I grew overprotective so quickly just now.

Y/n's pov

Can this crusty Spanish class end so that I can go to math already? Wow that's something I never thought I'd hear come out of my mouth before. It's just...

I want to get to know Edward. Is it weird that I wore my team Edward socks that I made for Bella when she was trying to make up her mind a few months ago to school today? It probably is weird but you know what I don't care. I want to talk to Edward today.

Finally the bell rang and my mind was free from español for another day. On my way to math, I stop by my locker, check my makeup in my locker mirror, and get to class. Today is the day that I will get to know Edward Cullen.

✨Times skip to the start of math class ✨

I'm actually happy to be in math class right now. Edward is sitting so close to me in this small math classroom that I'm sure he can hear my heart racing. Ugh female hormones. Wait... where did that come from? I don't know him. Okay this is it. I'm going to talk to Edward.

"H-hi Edward, I'm Y/n Swan," I say as I mentally slap myself for stuttering.

"Hey, Y/n, it's nice to officially meet you. Bella told me a lot about you. Im sorry for your loss by the way," he says sincerely.

I look into his eyes and they're a golden color. "Thanks Edward, it means a lot."

He sees the pain in my eyes and slowly reaches out to take my hand but then he quickly pulls away. Before I can say anything, he says " Would you like to sit with me at lunch today?"

I nod and he smiles. The bell rings and we both look at each other in shock. That might just have been the shortest feeling math class ever. We both get up and decided to walk to lunch together because we both have it next.

On the way he decides we're going to ask each other questions. (For these you can change the answers to be what you like)

"Y/n, what's your favorite color?"

"Green."

"Artist?"

"Taylor swift."

Before he can ask another question, we get to the lunch room. He gets a slice of pizza and an apple while i just get a slice of pizza. We sit down face to face and he asks "what's it like to be a twin?"

I laugh because Bella and I didn't have the typical twin upbringing. Growing up, we switched off a lot of who went with mom and who went with dad. I typically went with dad more than Bella did. Dad and I are really close and I'm not as close with our mom as I am with my dad.

When our mom decided to be with Phil, a minor league baseball player, Bella decided she didn't want to move around with them. Which forced me to move from forks with Charlie, our dad, to Arizona with our mom. I wasn't to happy about it because I hate the heat but i dealt with it to make Bella and mom happy. Of course, once I moved in he became subject to moving around a lot so mom had to home school me. A couple of weeks before Bella passed, my dad called my mom and asked if I could move back to forks because it would be good for Bella to have someone at home with her. I ended up moving back to forks and I was thrilled. Anyways, I should probably answer Edward who is just sitting there patiently waiting.

"It's interesting that's for sure. Some people say that it's like having a built in best friend. Bella and I didn't really become close again until I moved back to forks a couple of weeks ago. That's actually when she told me about how she was trying to decide between you and Jacob.'

Edward tenses at the name but nods. " so which side of the debate were you on," he asks with a mischievous grin and a golden color to his eyes.

I blush at the question. Do I answer or do I not answer. I'm torn and while I was in my head the bell rings.

"You owe me an answer Y/n. What's your next class?"

"I have economics next. What about you?"

He smirks and says," well you're in luck because I have world history right across the hallway from where Econ is so I can walk you there and you get to answer my question. We both win!"

He says this so confidently but do I want him to know which side I was on? I mean I guess it doesn't matter anymore sense it isn't a debate anymore.

"Okay deal."

We start walking and after a couple of minutes later, we're outside my Econ class.

"And your answer is?"

"I- I was team you." I say timidly and he looks deeply into my eyes as if to find proof.

"Do you have any proof?"

I nod and I pull my pant leg up so he can see my socks. There's a picture of Edward and Bella on them and it says "team Edward for life"

He looks shocked when he sees it.

"I made them for Bella."

He smiles at me and says "that's what I hoped you'd say. Now you better get to class."

This is the last thing I heard from Edward Cullen before I had to sit in an hour of economics. I couldn't think about anything but Edward for the rest of the school day and even at night when I went to bed. I wonder what lies ahead of me with Edward.
