A New Scent (Edward Cullen x reader)

I can't believe I showed him the socks. At least he seemed like he liked them.

I go through my day wondering where Edward is. He hasn't been in class at all today. I guess I could ask Jessica.

"Hey Jess," I say smiling.

"Hey yn what's up?"

"Do you know where Edward is?"

"No but none of the Cullens are here today. They must have gone on a trip or something."

I nod and with that I decide to work on some homework while Jessica rants about mike.

A couple of days pass and finally Edward is back. He was there waiting for me when I got to chemistry class am I couldn't help but smile.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here it's just I had to help my father with some things. It's all good now however so want to sit at lunch together?"

"Sure that'd be cool. I'm happy you're back I'm not sure I could handle math alone again later," I say with a chuckle.

"I'm sure you would have been fine."

" How could I be fine when you can tell me the answer without having to put it into the calculator?"

"Well when you put it that way.... Maybe it's good I'm back," he says laughing.

The rest of the class goes by quickly and it's now time for lunch. I'm happy that it's lunch time because Edward am I are going to sit together. As per usual, Edward got an apple and a slice of pizza while I got a slice of pizza.

"So how was your week without me," Edward asked with a grin.

"Well I suffered through a math quiz and a Spanish verbal. Not sure how either of those turned out. Kinda had too much on my mind to try my best."

"What was on your mind, if you don't mind me asking?"

"No it's okay. It's probably better to talk about than to bottle up. Can't have Charlie thinking I'm depressed. He already has one dead kid I can't put him through anymore pain. Now with Bella gone I have to be happy even if I'm not. If I'm not happy, I'll worry Charlie. I don't want to put him through anymore pain."

"I'm sorry, y/n. I know it must be really hard losing your twin. Bella and I were only just getting close when it happened. I feel terrible that I tried to push myself away from her. I knew I wasn't good for her but she didn't see that."

"What do you mean you weren't good for her," I asked.

"I- I can't tell you here there's too many people who could over hear. Even if I do tell you, how would I know that you would believe me? You might just think I'm making it up."

"Edward, it can't be that bad. Why wouldn't I believe you? You've never give me a reason not to believe you."

"Okay, meet me in the parking lot after school. And you can't tell a soul what I'm going to tell you okay? You have to promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"I trust you Edward. I won't tell a soul."

With that the bell rang and we went on with our days. The last few periods went on and they felt extremely slow. I felt like the school day was never going to end. Finally, there were five minutes left in the school day. They feel like the slowest five minutes ever. I can't help but wonder what Edward has to tell me. What could be so secretive that he was so insistent on making me promise not to tell a soul.

How bad is it if it made him push Bella away?
