Back to Headquarters

Start from the beginning

"Yes, yes of course. A victory should be honored with revels." I rolled my eyes at Thor. He seemed reluctant to stay but he gave in.

"Yeah, who doesn't love revels?" Tony said. "Captain?" He turned to Steve.

"Hopefully this puts an end to the Chitauri and HYDRA," he responded and sighed. "So, yes, revels." We sat in silence for a moment until Tony went back up to the pilot seat. I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. He turned to look at me.

"No meddling with that scepter," I warned him playfully. I know that he would never listen to me but it was worth a shot. Tony isn't one to follow the rules.

He smirked and replied, "I wouldn't dream of it." I walked back over to my dad and sat with him for the remainder of the trip. Soon enough we arrived back at avengers tower. We landed the quin jet on the short little runway. When we came to a stop, doctors rolled my dad out on a stretcher. Maria Hill and Dr. Cho were waiting for us at the door. But Dr. Cho quickly followed inside after my dad. I followed after her hoping to hear more information. As I stared out the window I saw the iron legion flying back to the tower.

Bruce came into the room and asked, "How's he doing?" I was hoping for some answers too. I waited for someone to reply.

"Unfortunately, he's still Barton," Tony replied. I sighed in relief. It felt like I had been holding my breath ever since we got off the jet.

"That's terrible," Bruce said. I chuckled at the two.

"Yeah, unfortunately," I laughed. Dad hit me playfully as I sat beside him.

"He's fine. He's thirsty," Tony said as he walked off. "Alright. Look alive, Jarvis. It's playtime." I couldn't hear what else he said since he walked too far away. Dr. Cho continued typing in her computer looking at all of the data.

"Are you sure he's gonna be okay?" I asked looking at Dr. Cho. Natasha was looking curiously at the machine. And I will admit I was intrigued too. I've never heard of something like this before. Just to think that it can regenerate tissue is crazy.

"Pretending to need this guy really brings the team together," Nat said. I laughed at her small joke and cracked a smile.

"There's no possibility of deterioration," Dr. Cho replied. That's really good news. When mom finds out that dad got shot she's going to freak out. She warned him before the mission not to do anything stupid but here we are. "The nano-molecular functionality is instantaneous. His cells don't know they're bonding with simulacra." I understood everything she was saying while Natasha's just stood there looking confused.

"She's creating tissue," Bruce explained amazed. Nat finally understood what was going on.

Dr. Cho then piped in and said, "If you brought him to my lab, the regeneration cradle could do this in 20 minutes." I sat there lost in thought over the machine. I was a total nerd but I didn't really mind.

"Oh, he's flat-lining," Tony said as he came into the room. "Call it. Time?" I laughed at his joke.

"No, no, no, I'm going to live forever," dad said as he laughed. I smiled along with him.

"You wish," I said. He just laughed more.

"I'm gonna be made of plastic." Nat and I stood in the back corner laughing with each other.

"Here's your beverage," Tony said while handing him a green colored drink. Tony made us these smoothies after every mission. They always looked gross, but they tasted good. They were supposed to be good for our health or whatever. He then handed Nat and I one too.

"You'll be made of you, Mr. Barton," Dr. Cho assured him. "Your own girlfriend won't be able to tell the difference."

"I don't have a girlfriend," he said. Yeah he doesn't. He has a wife and three kids. There's even another one on the way. And yeah, it was hard to keep this big of a secret from the team but dad and I knew it was the best way to keep our family safe.

"That I can't fix," Dr. Cho replied. I chucked at her response. This situation had a lot of irony to it. Dad looked to Nat and I. We all smiled to each other. "This is the next thing Tony. Your clunky metal suits are gonna be left in the dust."

"That is exactly the plan," Tony said. He was always looking for new ways to improve his suits. And I think nano-technology is exactly what he needs to achieve this goal. "And Helen, I expect to see you at the party on Saturday." Nat walked out of the room with her smoothie in hand.

"Unlike you, I don't have a lot of time for parties," Cho said. Tony raised his eyebrows at her. "Will Thor be there?" That wasn't very subtle.

I smirked and replied, "Yes, yes, Thor will be there. And so will you." I walked out of the room to meet up with Hill. I had to figure out who that guy was. I couldn't get him out of my head. He flooded my thoughts and I couldn't get rid of him. I walked down to her office and knocked on the door.

"Come in," she said. I open the door and saw her sitting at her desk. "Oh Ms. Barton please sit down." Maria was one of the few people who knew of my actual identity. I quickly sat down on the gray velvet chair adjacent to her desk.

"Uhh yeah I was wondering if you could inform me about the enhanced individuals that were at the HYDRA base today?" I asked. She gave me a knowing smirk. Then proceeded to hand me a file. I opened it and quickly glanced over it.

"Wanda and Pietro Maximoff," she said explaining further. "Twins. They are from Sokovia and we're orphaned at ten years old." I looked up at her with a saddened expression. "A shell collapsed on there apartment building one evening."

"What about their abilities?" I asked intrigued. I looked over the file to see their pictures. Well mostly to look at the boys picture.

"He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neuroelectric interfacing, telekinesis, and mental manipulation." I nodded following along with everything she said.

"So basically he's fast and she's weird?" I asked. She nodded in response and got up from my seat. I handed the file back to her. "Nat and I are going dress shopping tomorrow for the party. Would you like to come with us?"

"No I can't. I have a lot of work to catch up on," she said. "But show me your dress when you get back." Maria, Nat, and I have all become really close considering we were the only girls around here. It's been nice having to talk to someone other than my dad. I walked out of her office and took the elevator up to the floor my room was on. There was about six rooms on each floor. Nat was to the right of me, Bruce was across from her, and the rest of the rooms were vacant.

I finally arrived in my room and headed straight for the shower. I stripped out of my black catsuit and stepped in. When I turned on the water it felt so nice after being on that mission all day. I was all sweaty and was ready to get myself clean. I turned on my playlist and hummed along to the music. When I got out, everything around me was freezing. I always hate it when I have to get out of the shower. I seriously need to ask Tony for a towel heater or something. I wrapped the towel around me and headed for my closet. I slipped on my black silk nightgown and made my way back to my room. As I climbed into bed I couldn't help but think about the blue blur that I had seen earlier today. But I have to get some sleep. I have a long day of shopping ahead of me tomorrow.

(Fun fact: Did you know that Stan Lee was supposed to play old cap before he died. That means that every cameo with Stan in it would've actually been older Steve. I could totally see him calling Tony, Tony Stank.)
