"KID!" he heard someone call out from behind just as he collapsed onto one knee, coughing a little. Adrenaline. He needed more adrenaline.

"KAITOU KID! STOP THIS INSTANT!! IT'S OVER WITH YOUR MANIAC HEISTS!!"

Eyesight blurry, Kaito glanced around. He saw people surrounding him, cutting off escapes. Division 2?
Most likely.

In a swift movement, he applied Akako's patch- a shock of adrenaline rushing through him. His nerves and heart went on overdrive, and Kaito could feel his limbs trembling.

Faster.

I need to be faster.

Kaito tossed a few smoke bombs high into the air, shrouding not only himself but the surrounding officers in a cloud of coloured smoke.

...only to let out a yelp of surprise as someone grabbed his waist and hoisted him over their shoulder.

What the-?!

"Hold still you Bakaitou...!"
Kaito needed a second before he could place the voice. Well, if that wasn't a familiar one. Immediately, he relaxed, allowing his captor to dash out of the smoke, running around the next corner to hide behind a huge wall carpet.
"You idiot...! Look at you, collapsing in front of everyone...!"
"I know I know..." Kaito coughed, glad as Shinichi finally let him back onto his own legs as the police ran by, screaming at a dummy he had set off minutes ago.

Kaito looked up.
Shinichi was staring right back at him, in full phantom thief gear.

"What are you staring at? You've got tonights target, so hurry up and check it so we can get home."

Kaito wasn't sure if it was the excessive amount of adrenaline in his body, but he suddenly started giggling which broke out into full fledged laughter. Shinichi, startled to his very core, immediately pressed both hands onto Kaito's mouth to shush him, which made the thief laugh even harder.
"Shhhhh!!! You idiot!! Do you want us to be found?!"
Kaito pushed Shinichi's hands away before wrapping both his arms around his waist, pulling him against himself.
"You're looking so good in that outfit, you know that?"
"KID this is not the time nor the place-!"
"Oh it is the perfect time and place. Shin-chan, you're so beautiful."

Shinichi squirmed to get free and finally slapped the thief hard across his face, finally getting Kaito to take a step back again in shock.
That lasted only a second before he started giggling again.
"Feisty today, aren't we."
"Be glad I didn't blast your head off with a soccer ball- get going already. What are you, on drugs?"
"You could say so," Kaito drawled, leaning in to take Shinichi's hand.
"It's only adrenaline though. I'm fine."
"KID I swear on everything that is holy I am going to-"

"KID!! THERE HE IS!!"
"TWO KIDS?!"

Both spun around to stare at the incoming wave of officers. Shinichi turned pale while KID was reacting just in time and grabbing his waist, only to launch the two of them off of the second floor down into the first floor with his grappling hook, laughing like a maniac this whole time.
Shinichi was glad about that quick escape but was also two seconds before beating some reason into him.

"You go hide, I'll check the gemstone."
KID addressed him once more, before quickly jogging down the hallway, leaving Shinichi speechless behind. Wait- now hold on a second!
"KID it doesn't work this way!! You almost just collapsed and you think I'm leaving you alone?!"
KID disappeared around the corner.
"OI! KID!!"
