A Cassarian Story
Varian always knew that he cared for Cassandra. But he didn't realize how much until she was gone.
Six long years after Cassandra leaves Corona, she finally returns. Varian is overjoyed, but she comes bearing terrible news. A stran...
"Infinity said it would give you a gift..." Opal ponders this. "So, is that why I have my powers? Are they the gift Infinity gave?"
Cassandra strokes Opal's cheek tenderly. "We think so, kiddo. We're not sure why It decided to give you these abilities, but that seems to be the only explanation."
"For whatever reason, I believe Infinity knew exactly what It was doing," Varian says. "It seemed awfully invested in your mom and me getting together. It even helped us, apparently."
Opal smiles. "Well, I'm glad it did!"
Cassandra chuckles. "Me too, Opal. Me too."
"So what about the Angst?" Opal asks. "Did your plan work?"
"I'm getting to that," Varian replies. "Turns out, the Angst wasn't what we thought it was at all..."
Varian approaches the dome, his Truth Ray at the ready. His heart is pounding and his hands are shaking. His dad awaits somewhere within this dome. Hopefully his anxiety is enough to attract the Angst.
Cassandra comes up behind him, and grabs his hand. "You're crazy if you think I'm letting you do this alone."
He gives her hand a gentle squeeze. He would be okay if she decided to sit this one out; it would insure her safety. But he would prefer that she stay by his side. "I wouldn't want it any other way."

He isn't surprised that Cassandra has decided to join him. But he is surprised when Lance, Adira, and Hugo appear as well. Even Ruddiger and Owl linger nearby.
"Wha— Guys, you don't all have to be here," Varian says.
"We figured our moral support may assist," Adira says.
"Yeah, what if we all think of something that scares us at once?" Hugo says. "It might overwhelm the Angst. Who knows?"

Varian has to admit, it isn't a bad idea. "Okay, let's do this..."
Gathered behind Varian, everyone close their eyes. Each one of them imagines whatever scares them the most. For Varian, it isn't hard to do... He is terrified that this will not work. That the dome is here to stay. That he will never see his father again. This fear brings up too many familiar feelings, from his past experiences when his dad was trapped in the amber. Rapunzel helped him rescue Quirin before, but this time it is up to him. It is dependent on the success of his plan. His invention. Does he have what it takes?
