We soon made it to the control room where we entered without knocking. The guards in the room instantly stood up and bowed in our presence. There were only six in total in the room. One man, who looked to be in his late 20's early 30's with short, hazelnut hair, stepped forward and asked, "your majesty, is there anything we can help you with today?"

Liam looked directly at the man who spoke up and asked, "do you know how to control the cameras?"

The man nodded, "yes, sir."

"Good, you stay here. Everyone else, out. And do not breathe a word about this to anyone. I will know if you do." He tapped to his forehead as if indicating he will be keeping an eye on them all that way. Everyone bowed once more before scurrying out of the room awaiting orders for when they can return.

The control room was set up like a typical camera room with multiple computers spread over the length of the room and one set up by itself as a master controller to pull up past recordings. There was another one on the opposite side of the room where the first one was set up.

We headed for the one on the left and the man led us over there. He had a name tag that read Zach. "What can I do for you, sir?"

"Can you pull up yesterday's footage?" He turned to me, "should we try around the time where you met me? Is that where everything becomes foggy?"

"Yes," I said, "maybe around six o'clock? In the corridor between our room and the gardens?"

"Coming right up," Zach responded and started messing around with the computer. Multiple video footages pulled up of the corridor between the time of 5:30-6:30. He started fast-forwarding through the time waiting for me to appear.

I watched as I saw myself exit the bedroom and into the corridor. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary; I watched myself get lost in thought as I made my way to the gardens. Something funny seemed to happen though about halfway through, there was a glitch. I was there, by myself at one end, someone there at the other end of the hall, then there was a glitch and we were walking right by each other on the other side. This definitely had to be it.

"This, this had to be it. Who is this man?" I asked aloud.

Bailey studied the video. "You believe something must have happened between you two?"

"I do," I said. I racked my brain for who this was. Why was this here? Obviously, the monster went to great lengths to edit the footage but why not just take it out completely? Maybe they were hoping we wouldn't notice the cut or edited version. Suddenly, it was like a fog was lifted off of me and I remembered everything. "That's John."

"John?" Liam asked. "You mean one of the Council members? Did he do something?" Before I could respond though, Liam turned to Zach. "Thank you very much, this was all we needed. Please, don't say anything to anyone."

"Yes, your majesty," Zach bowed once more and opened the door for us. We left very quickly and not long after we saw the other workers returning to their station in the control room. About halfway back to our room, I heard a familiar voice. Liam quickly pushed me up against a wall and started kissing me. I was confused but played along with it when I heard Bailey say, "jeez you guys, you know if I wanted to be the third wheel, I wouldn't have tagged along. I could have just hung out with Josh instead. Oh, hello there Council member John, how are you today?"

Liam broke apart from the kiss with a slight possessive growl as if he wasn't pleased at being interrupted but wanted to show respect all the same. "Good afternoon John, how are you? Is there anything we can help you with?"

John waved us off, "good, good, all good. Please, don't stop on my account. A mates got to do what a mate has to do, especially in these dire circumstances." He said this with a smirk and a gleam in his eyes. "Please, enjoy yourselves and forget I was ever here." He turned to his companion that he had been talking to before we had bumped into each other. It was some random girl I had never met before. "Come, Mariam, let's leave these two love birds alone. What was it we were talking about before? Was it about one of the cooks and the horse girl?"

Their voices were fading down the hall as they sauntered away. Mariam laughed, "no, but they are no good at sneaking around at all. It's a shame really, not waiting for your mate. Someone's going to be heartbroken when they find their mate and have to break it off."

Once their voices were gone, we continued down the hall. "Man, that John really is a gossip, isn't he?" Bailey commented, "are we sure he has anything to do with this?"

"Yes," I answered. We reached our chambers and swiftly closed the door behind us. We headed back toward the dinning table and took our seats again.

"So what happened?" Liam asked, "what did John do yesterday?"

I took a deep breath. "So, as I was coming out to see you yesterday, I was lost in thought when I accidentally bumped into John. There was this weird feeling I had but I ignored it because I thought it was just embarrassment, now, I'm not too sure. I think it was the monster getting some type of control on me. At least enough that he could communicate with me later that evening. I don't think John is the monster, but he is certainly a tool for him."

"We need to be careful," Liam cautioned, "I think from now on, we can't trust John. I think that is who the monster was trying to warn you about, but why? I figured John is just a tool for him to use."

"You know, the monster isn't really a good enough name for him," Bailey chimed in. "He's more of an assassin. Monster is more of a term used for kids. This guy definitely seems more like an assassin to me. Don't you think?"

I agreed, assassin seemed like a much better name than the monster. The monster was childish, it was what I just had reverberated to calling him after yesterday and couldn't come up with a better name at the time. But considering he tried to assassinate me on Earth and he actually killed my parents, the assassin was a good name.

"There is something new we know now though," I said, "the assassin is here and he can get to us by controlling others. At least through touch with someone else he can talk to us. But if he has all this power, why does he need someone else? And he obviously isn't a human, not with the type of power he wields. He must be some type of warlock."

"Agreed," Liam responded, "but we shouldn't just look at warlocks, we should keep our options open. Whatever we do, we can't trust John. He has something to do with this. We just don't know if it's willingly or if he is under control."
