Liam stayed true to his word about rest and I really needed it. I didn't realize how much until after I had my fill of food. My limbs started sagging and it was all I could do to make it to my room before crashing into a deep sleep.
When I awoke the sun was setting. It was absolutely breathtaking. The light broke through the trees and streamed through the glass doors and above the tree tops was a variety of colors in the setting sun. Warm tones that made you just want to sit back and relax. I slowly crawled my way out of bed and Coco complained because I moved but she jumped down too and followed me to my balcony. I opened my glass doors that led out to the balcony and left them open to let the cool air through. I then gracefully plopped down on a blue outdoor recliner and soaked in the dying rays.
I was still tired but I felt much better. Coco jumped up in my lap and laid there purring while I started to pet her. I sighed in contentment until I smelt something delicious, something grilled.
My stomach rumbled and my eyes popped open instantly looking for the source. It had to be someone grilling outside. I hopped up from my seat after moving Coco to look to see if I could spot anyone grilling but a person walked through my door instead and I spun around to find Liam standing there with two plates of pork loins. My mouth water at the sight of the food. Not from anything else I convinced myself.
I made a move for the plate but Liam held them both up way over my head and I frowned. "Hey! That's not fair!" I knew I could grab the plate easily now but I didn't want to risk spilling the food on the ground, but he could also move it out of my reach just as fast again and spill the food that way too. So sadly I was in a stuck situation. "Give me my food!"
"Ah uh, who said this is even your food?" Liam grinned looking down at me while he continued to hold the mouthwatering food over my head.
"Why else would you be holding two plates if one of them were not for me? Plus, why else would you be in my room because if I do recall, I don't remember inviting you into my room," I retorted.
"I invited myself into your room because I am bringing you food, but you're not getting any of it until you sit back down in your chair."
"Ah ha! You see? That is my food and you just admitted it!" I grinned and made a grab at it but he moved it out of the way. I frowned and he just gave me a look with a raised eyebrow as if saying, 'you're not getting it until you sit down.' I huffed but sat back down which was when he finally gave the plate to me.
As I started wolfing it down, he sat in the seat next to me since there were two out here on the deck. Honestly, I was horrible at small so I didn't even try, that and the fact I was still embarrassed about this morning and was on the forefront of my mind every time I looked at him. I had no idea what to say but the silence bore on me so bad while I was eating I blurted out a reasonable question at least. "What kind of training are we doing tomorrow?"
Liam glanced at me and answered, "I thought we would start lessons on tree climbing tomorrow because it's a valuable skill we have."
I gulped. "Tree climbing?" I loved trees and all, but not climbing them. I broke my arm climbing a tree when I was younger and I never climbed a tree again, I was too afraid too. It might sound silly but I also became scared of heights at this time because I was really high up when the branch snapped out from under me, not to mention I also got a few other nasty cuts and bruises when I fell. I just never like climbing trees after the incident and I was not looking forward to trying to climb them tomorrow.
Liam nodded and continued, "yep, and afterward I figured it was about time we visited town-" he paused finally noticing the look of terror on my face. "Wait, you're not scared of climbing trees, are you?"
I shook my head too sharply, "no, why would you think that?"
"Because every time I say climbing trees your face drains of color like it did just now."
He shook his head as if slightly amused which I instantly hit him. "Hey! It's not funny! I broke my arm once climbing a tree when I was young and I was really high! I just don't like the thought of climbing trees anymore."
I could see him trying to hold back his smile by the way his mouth was twitching. "It's alright, we're all scared of something. I just didn't think climbing trees would be something to be scared of."
"I'm serious!" I sighed frustratingly, "it's not funny!" In response I hit him again and he actually winced this time unlike last where he barely moved at all.
He rubbed his arm. "Okay, okay. I get it. But we're still doing it tomorrow, it's about time you got over your fear. Besides, for us the trees are like a second home. You will love it."
I grumbled lowly, "I doubt it."
This time he actually chuckled, "you will, trust me. And I will be there every step of the way."
I glared at him but he only relaxed and put his plate down since he finished. Coco instantly went to it and started cleaning it off and I rolled my eyes at that. I did the same and relaxed as well.
"It's a pretty sunset, isn't it." It was a statement but I agreed anyways. The sun was barely visible through the trees anymore and the sky was lit up with all the colors and stars.
We sat there in silence as it became dark when a thought popped in my head. "What were you saying earlier before you started teasing me about trees?"
"Nothing to important," he answered, "I just figured after the lesson tomorrow we could visit town because I finally think you're ready and able to accept everything about our world."
"Really?" I asked excited. I was really looking forward to this and meeting everyone and learning what they were. I wonder what it would be like meeting a different species and learning how they acted. That and maybe meeting whoever it was that always kept the place stocked with everything we could possibly need. How in the world could Liam afford it all anyways? I knew his grandma was a witch and made the place but seriously, he needed to also have money to keep this place running, especially with all the people living here. But it couldn't be more than a hundred, not with how little I've seen life and movement around here.
"Yep, and we are also going to take that time for you to learn the smells of different species so you know what you're dealing with every time you come across someone."
"There are different smells for each type of species?"
"Of course, everyone does, and not only that you can pick out certain people too just by their scent. You can tell what they are and who they are."
"Wow," I said amazed. I didn't even think something like that was possible. Picking out people's smells? Who knew? It was awesome though.
"Yeah, now I better get going. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow and we are waking up bright and early again." The sun had completely set and the sky was a dark shade of blue and purple, almost black. Wow, time had really flown by. Liam stood up and grabbed his plate and I did the same while stretching too. He took the plate out of my hand when I was done and I exclaimed, "hey! I could have taken it down myself!"
He shook his head, "no it's alright. I got this. Just go back to bed and get more rest. Morning will be here sooner than you think." He didn't even let me have a chance to argue before disappearing again and leaving me alone. I sighed and got ready for bed, all the while thinking the excitement tomorrow will bring.

Yes! Another chapter. I don't remember if I mentioned this but as I was writing the chapter before this I was kind of imagining Valentine from Shadowhunters and Rowan from the Throne of Glass series saying what Liam said. How Liam acted kind of reminded me of them, especially Rowan:). Anyways, anyone else bummed freeform canceled Shadowhunters because they didn't have the funding for the show anymore? I think a different network needs to pick it up. They had the fans just sadly not the funding. We need Shadowhunters back! It was and is an amazing show! Otherwise comment below what you thought.Comment
