IF ONLY YOU KNEW

Grug woke up next to Shrek like most mornings. Just seeing his boyfriend made him blush.
It was Shrek's birthday so Grug rushed downstairs to make Shrek birthday waffles.
Grug stirred in the sprinkles and poured the waffle batter onto his brand-new waffle maker he bought just for that day. He flipped the waffles and hoped Shrek wouldn't wake from the smell of fresh homemade fluffy waffles. Grug plopped his favorite whipped cream onto the pile of waffles he had just created before heading up the stairs.
"Good morning honey," Grug smiled, "Happy birthday! I made waffles!"
"You're so sweet," Shrek sat up and gave Grug a small kiss.
"Anything for the Birthday Boy," Grug replied.

Grug passed a messily wrapped present to Shrek. Shrek tore open his present and found four onions in his box.
"How thoughtful," Shrek said, "Thank you!"
"You're welcome!" Grug replied but he needed Shrek to hurry up because he had an "appointment" at 7.
After what felt like forever Shrek finally finished and Grug rushed him to bed. Even though Shrek protested it was only 6 Grug got him to sleep within 15 minutes.
Grug wrote a note saying he'd be back by 10 am tomorrow and stuck it on the fridge before scuttling to his car and speeding through the city streets. It was late December (and Christmas Eve) so the air was crisp and cold and the sky was a grayish blue that complemented the snow that lay peacefully on the city's floor as well as rooftops.
Grug stepped out of his Bugatti onto the freezing sidewalk, his grippers spreading. He then stepped into the apartment building and hurried to room 505. Grug clicked open the door and found Gru eating a bowl of spaghetti on the living room floor. Grug couldn't help but feel he was kinda pathetic but then immediately felt bad for thinking that.
"Merry Christmas Eve!" Grug said as he kissed Gru, " I wish I wasn't so busy with family so I didn't have to come over so late."
"Oh it's no problem," Gru smiled, " I was busy pretending to be the Grinch to scare random kids, anyway. I'm glad I get to see your face at the end of the day though."
"Yeah..." Grug sighed, "Me too."
