Alpha Archer's weakness

Immediately after Roman left, a warrior from my pack mind-linked and informed me that Alpha Alex was at the border and that he let him in. I was waiting for him in my office with Olivia and Jack when I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" As I said so, three from the group of trackers came in. I tensed because I  wasn't sure if they had discovered something, but I couldn't help but hope.  "Have you found anything?"

"Not exactly. We didn't detect their traces, but there was something suspicious." Said one of them before looking at their leader.

"We kept looking for her, alpha, but we didn't find her. When we looked for her we smelled a particular scent. It is certainly the scent of a witch." The leader added. Why didn't I think about a witch?

"This might explain the sudden rain, but a witch helping a werewolf?" I said as I went to sit on my chair. "Olivia, do you know something about it?" I asked suddenly after thinking for a while, but she shook her head. I could tell she was telling the truth, because she was a little surprised, too.

As you may have guessed, we and the witches don't get along very well. It is very hard to get one on our side. It sounds like a very complicated situation and I don't like it, because I just want to find my Annabelle. When I was about to dismiss them, Alex came in without knocking. He looked at me worriedly.

"Is it true? Your mate...are you ok?" He asked in a worried voice.

I sighed. "I will be better after I find her," I told him and looked at my beta. "Jack, gather all the people we talked about in the conference room. Olivia stay with him." I ordered and I  want them to stay together because I still don't trust her so it is better if he keeps an eye on her. The three trackers were dismissed by their alpha and Alex and I were left alone in the office.

"I'm sorry Archer." He said, but I didn't want someone else to apologize for the situation.

"We will find her," I said with confidence. "How the things went with the council? " I asked, but my mind was on something else.

"Unfortunately I'm not here to give you good news Archer, I'm sorry. They keep saying you and your mate have to stand trial. Some of them understand you, some are still uncertain, and the others are just stubborn in their thinking, but this might be a way to change their perspective." He told me, not knowing how to encourage me. I sighed in frustration, but I didn't care about it right now. "I will help you as much as possible. Don't worry!"

"I will think about it after I find her. Alex, right now I don't care." I said, and he nodded understanding how I felt.

I decided to tell him about what I had just discovered, and he was beyond surprised and remained silent, not sure what to say. It's not easy to keep him quiet, so he was as shocked as I was. As soon as I finished I got up because Jack informed me that everyone was waiting for me. Alex was following me as well.
When I walked in I noticed everyone was confused and worried because they didn't know the reason for them being here, but the only thing that was on my mind was the desire to find the mole and torture him.

"As you already know, my mate, your Luna, has been kidnapped. I have summoned you here because there are some unanswered questions and you may have the solution. Your answer could lead me to the mole and help me rescue Annabelle." I paused and looked at their confused faces. "Eight years ago you were all here when my parents died, and when I came back you lied to me. I know the attack wasn't done by some rogues, so I would like to know the reasons and who came up with the idea." I finished and they looked at each other confused and shocked, no one said anything, probably too scared, but not Max.

"I'm sorry alpha for lying to you back then. You were young and we didn't want you to feel the need to take revenge or dedicate your life to that unfortunate event. I wasn't the one who came up with the idea, but I agreed at the time." He said bowing his head.

"What made you change your mind? Why did you tell Jack?" I asked him suspiciously.

"You are more than capable of making good decisions. I believe we made a mistake." He answered and lowered his gaze. Something was off.

"Why did you decide to tell him now? Whose idea was it?" I asked and he stiffened. It was obvious he was hiding something. "Max, tell me right now!" I ordered him.

"Alpha, she meant no harm....please!" He begged.

She? Then it clicked in my mind. Where is his mate?

"Where is Keira?" I asked as I looked around, and all the people did the same. I gripped Max's neck. "Where is she?" I ordered again.

"I ... don't...know. She...disappeared" He managed to say. I let him go and he fell to the ground.

"Take him to the dungeon and interrogate him. Find Keira and bring her to me alive. Jack, search their house for any clues." I ordered and I was about to leave the room, but I stopped. "Just to be clear, you didn't have any right to lie, I am your alpha, I am responsible for you and protect you, but I need to trust you. We will talk about it later." I finished saying and stormed out. They felt guilty and I could tell they were ashamed of themselves, but I am too angry right now to care.

"Roman, where are you?" I asked through mind-link since he wasn't here.
"Still running, I'm about to come back!"
"Don't bother! I need you to find Keira and bring her to the dungeon...ALIVE!" I ordered him.
