Ant POV
I have always not liked the Dark Orca and it's crew, though lately it isn't that bad when we run into them. Mom basically says the only reason we haven't caught them and turned them in to WOA yet is because it's good for me and Fontaine to have interaction with others our age, which I guess is true. Madeline and Finn aren't terrible to hang out with nowadays. Now we're more acquaintances then we are enemies, and we all just argue for fun at this point.
So when when we run into the Dark Orca this afternoon, I have to say that for once I was happy to see it. Well, kind of. We have been doing school and researching coral all morning, and the change is welcome.
To start, we have the usual back and forth on the intercoms between Mom and Hammerhead, then we have Finn popping in to say hi to Fontaine like he always does, and then one of boards the others sub. This time, it happens to be us boarding the Dark Orca over some priceless coral Hammerhead wants or something.
Immediatly after boarding, I notice the fact that Madeline and Finn aren't in the moonpool. Oh well, guess me and Fontaine will have to go find them. Usually they are right there waiting for us.
"Race you to find Madeline and Finn!" I yell as I dash off to find them as my sister sighs and slowly walks after me.
I run around searching the kitchen, then the bridge, and I then finally go check their rooms. I don't find them in Finn's room, so I realize they must be in Madeline's room. I don't actually know where her room is, only that it is near Finn's, so I look around and finally find it. Though as I approach I start to hear voices through the door.
"Someone is going to find out eventually, and it will either end up good or bad. If someone is going to find out, it may as well be the Nektons, they'll help us," it's Finn's voice, I realize. What is he talking about? Find out? About what? I shake the thoughts from my head as I hear someome approach.
I turn around and see my sister turning the corner.
"Their in there, I was just waiting for you," I say in a very non suspicious voice trying not to reveal what I just heard Madeline and Finn talking about.
"Since when do you wait for me?" says Fontaine as she starts to suspect something.
"Since I grew up to be more responsible, that's when," I say in a voice that shows that I am very annoyed by her comment.
"Just for the record, just because your a year older doesn't mean your more responsible and mature suddenly. You just turned fourteen 2 weeks ago, it doesn't happen suddenly. You grow more responsible and mature over time and from experience," I am about to retort against her, though the ways she says it makes me realise that she's right. I'm not suddenly all grown up, it will happen over time.
I soon realize that I am zoning out again and I go back to focusing on reality. Madeline and Finn have realized we are here and are currently talking to Fontaine. Something about what Hammerhead wants this time. At this point I've given up on figuring out what that guy wants, we run into the Dark Orca so much it honestly doesn't even matter at this point. These run ins usually last for a few hours, and our parents will call us if they need me or Fontaine.
I honestly hope that Mom and Dad don't call me or Fontaine to go to a place where Hammerhead is. Whenever we have run ins with the Dark Orca lately, it seems that Hammerhead is more violent and angry then he used to be. I don't know if it's just having us Nektons around, or if he's like this all the time now. If he is like this all the time now, I feel bad for Madeline and Finn. Maybe that's what they were talking about telling us about. Though I can't ask them or they will figure out that I was listening in on their conversation.
