"Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the trant and if having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it and where is the use of a book, thought alice, without pictures and conversations?"
Eri continues to read, the car silent, listening to the story to the rain. A relaxing, peaceful moment in the zombie apocalypse. They get t chapter ten by the time they enter a new road. Its a dirt road with open fields, tall glass, and a few trees.
The grey sky and clouds make the grass look dull and the rain clouds the vision from the windows in the car. So, it was surprising and confusing to see a tall, white church. The bright color stained windows designed to show pictures of a white dove and a black crow flying away.
On the side in front of the road is a big wooden, sign reading: 'saint johns catholic school for the lost.' someone is standing on the road and they look at the car. The male stops the car. The person is a women wearing the uniform of a nun.
She has long black hair and yellow eyes, a kind smile on her face. She steps to the drivers side and the male doesnt roll down the window.
"Excuse me sir but would you like to confess your sins to our lord and savior jesus christ?"
The male shakes his head. The womens kind smile remains on her face.
"You wouldnt like to have your sins forgiven and your conscious cleared? How about the people in the car?"
The women holds her hands together, her sleeves lifting slightly. The male sees the bruises and marks, then gives the women a stare. Purple and red splatches are on her neck and a slightly noticeable rope burn on her neck.
Her genuine smile, apon further inspection is forced and pained.
"---- people are cruel, and sometimes you need to be cruel to survive, but always remember that no matter what, you must be the only person who decides how cruel is cruel and how cruel is evil, all for yourself. Do you promise me?"
—- nods.
"Yes, i promise."
The male grips his steering wheel and nods. The women smiles, relieved.
"Oh how nice, you changed your mind! Please go on ahead. I will meet you all at the front of the church!"
The male drives up to the church and parks next to the entrance.
—- holds his fathers hand, looking at the church, then his father.
"Why do we come here dad?"
His father looks down at him.
"Because. This place is supposed to bring hope to people who dont know what to believe in, gives them something to look forward to, away from bad people and problems, at least for a little while."
